How Kitzbühel gets booked.

No runway takes airline flights here, so nearly every stay begins and ends with a road transfer of more than an hour. Between those two runs the trips are short ones around the valley.

What is a Kitzbühel chauffeur service?

A Kitzbühel chauffeur service (often searched as Kitzbuhel chauffeur service) is a private car booked in advance at a fixed price in euros, driven by a chauffeur holding the Austrian Taxilenkerausweis and operated by a company whose concession is granted by the Bezirkshauptmannschaft Kitzbühel under the Gelegenheitsverkehrs-Gesetz 1996. In Austria a chauffeur car and a taxi hold the same licence; what differs is how the trip is booked and priced. Whether it is a Salzburg Airport transfer, a run from Innsbruck Airport or an hourly car service around town, the car, the driver and the fare are agreed before the day.

For most guests the hard part is getting here. Kitzbühel has no airline airport, so arrivals come by road from Salzburg, roughly 75 to 80 km away, from Innsbruck at 95 to 100 km, or from Munich across the German border at 160 to 165 km. A Kitzbühel car service booking settles the route, the winter tyres and the timing for you, and the fare already contains the 10 percent VAT, the motorway vignette and any section toll. That is the practical case for a taxi alternative: the published taxi fares from the airports are similar, but a reserved black car tells you the total before you fly.

Inside the Kitzbühel Alps the same reservation covers the short runs to Kirchberg, Reith, Jochberg and Aurach, the SkiWelt villages of Going, Ellmau, Söll and Scheffau, and Kitzbühel to St. Johann in Tirol. Further out it covers Kitzbühel to Zell am See, Kitzbühel to Innsbruck and Kitzbühel to Munich. For event teams moving guests through race week, private transfers add central billing and a single dispatch contact for every car on the Munich Airport to Kitzbühel and Salzburg routes.

The airports that serve Kitzbühel.

Three airline airports, none of them in the district, and a small airfield next door that only light aircraft can use. Which gateway you pick sets the length of the drive and, from Munich, adds a border.

Drive times are door to door for a direct private car. Peak here is not a commuter rush hour: it means Saturday changeover days in winter, the Hahnenkamm week in January, fresh snow on the roads and, from Munich, holdups at the Kufstein border on Saturdays. Kitzbühel tourism lists shuttles from all three airports at about 90 minutes.

Where your chauffeur meets you.

Two Austrian arrival halls, a large German one across the border, and for every short trip after that, the door of your hotel or chalet. Each works a little differently.

Salzburg and Innsbruck arrivals.

Both Austrian gateways are a fraction of the size of Munich, which makes them quick to leave on a ski week. Your chauffeur confirms the exact door or short-stay car park in the message sent before you land, which is the free default pickup. Any short-stay charge the car pays while you collect your bags is inside the price. If you would rather be met inside the hall, meet and greet with a name board is the paid add-on,.

From Salzburg the usual line runs west through Lofer and St. Johann; from Innsbruck it runs east along the Inn valley and through the Brixental by Kirchberg. Times for both are on Salzburg Airport to Kitzbühel and Innsbruck Airport to Kitzbühel, and if you are staying in either city first, see Salzburg or Innsbruck.

  • Named door or car park, the free defaultThe chauffeur waits where the pre-arrival message says, with any short-stay fee already counted.
  • Meet and greet, a paid add-onA chauffeur inside arrivals holding your name.
  • Saturday arrivalsWinter changeover day is the busiest; the 60 free minutes start from actual landing, not the timetable.

Munich Airport.

Munich is the long-haul gateway and the airport with the most connections, but it sits in Germany, roughly two hours or more from Kitzbühel. Pickups there are cross-border journeys, so dispatch confirms each one at booking rather than selling it automatically. Your chauffeur names the meeting point for your terminal in the message before you land. Detail for the run is on Munich Airport to Kitzbühel, and for time in the city first see Munich.

The motorway from Munich enters Austria at Kufstein, where Saturday delays in winter can add real time. Any vignette or toll the route needs is inside the fare, and only the Austrian kilometres carry Austrian VAT.

Munich arrivals · 900 × 600

The hotel or chalet door.

After arrival, almost every pickup starts at a hotel entrance in the old town, a chalet on the slopes of the Hahnenkamm or the Kitzbüheler Horn, or a guesthouse in Kirchberg, Reith or Jochberg. The chauffeur waits 15 minutes free and helps with skis and boots. Mention a steep private drive in the booking notes.

Some hotels run their own guest cars, known as Gästewagen, a narrow separate category limited to that hotel's own guests. RYDES covers what those cars usually do not: the airport runs, Munich, evenings between villages, and a car held by the hour.

Pickup arrangements above were checked against public sources in October 2026. Meeting points can move with construction or winter traffic plans, so treat your chauffeur's pre-arrival message as the authority on the day.

Tolls, the vignette, VAT and the licence.

Kitzbühel has no congestion charge and no airport of its own to levy fees. What reaches a fare here is the motorway vignette, the occasional section toll, Austrian VAT and the way Tyrol regulates taxi pricing, and a RYDES quote carries all of it.

Austrian motorways need a vignette; in 2026 a one-day vignette costs €9.60, and from the 2027 vignette year it is digital only, with no sticker. The Innsbruck run uses the A12 along the Inn valley; on the Munich run the A12 is free of the vignette between the Kufstein border and Kufstein-Süd. Whatever the route needs, vignette or section toll, is inside your price. From 1 November to 15 April cars may only be driven in wintry conditions on winter tyres, or with chains on snow-covered roads, and the operator equips the car for your route. Tyrol's weekend bans on minor roads exempt arriving and departing guests, and your chauffeur carries the booking confirmation as proof.

Every Austrian car carrying paying passengers runs under one licence, Personenbeförderungsgewerbe mit Pkw – Taxi, introduced on 1 January 2021 when the old hire-car trade for cars was merged into it. In the district the concession is granted by the Bezirkshauptmannschaft Kitzbühel, and every driver holds a Taxilenkerausweis. The Landeshauptmann of Tyrol sets taxi tariffs by ordinance, but an airport run leaves the local tariff area, and for any pre-booked trip §14(1b) GelverkG allows a fixed price agreed at booking, with pickup and destination fixed, that cannot be exceeded and needs no taximeter. RYDES quotes that fixed price, within any price band the state sets for the trip. The reduced 10 percent VAT is inside the total. A comparison with the local taxi is on Kitzbühel taxi versus chauffeur.

The tourism office figures are a useful benchmark: a private car with a fixed fare is priced in the same range as a taxi from the airports, so the case for booking ahead is certainty and the class of car rather than a lower price. Salzburg, Innsbruck and Munich are each covered in full on Salzburg Airport to Kitzbühel, Innsbruck Airport to Kitzbühel and Munich Airport to Kitzbühel.

How long it really takes.

Valley distances are short. Here the second column means a winter Saturday or an event day rather than a commuter rush, because that is when Kitzbühel slows down.

Typical door-to-door driving times from Kitzbühel town centre, for a direct private car. Peak means Saturday changeover or an event day.

Kitzbühel to Munich Airport2 h 01 to 2 h 202 h 30 or moreAbout 165 km; Saturday delays at the Kufstein border set the upper end

These ranges assume the roads are open and cleared as normal. Heavy snow on Pass Thurn or the road to Lofer can add a lot to an airport run, and race day in January closes and fills roads around town. For a flight you cannot miss on a winter Saturday, leave an extra half of the off-peak time as a buffer.

Beyond the Kitzbühel Alps.

Longer journeys are quoted as one fixed fare for the whole distance, so a slow queue at Kufstein or a snowy Pass Thurn is the operator's cost rather than yours.

What the Kitzbühel price contains.

A single total in euros, agreed before you travel, and nothing added when the car pulls up at the hotel.

VAT, vignette and tolls
The 10 percent Austrian VAT, the motorway vignette and any section toll the route uses are already in the fare. On a Munich run, only the Austrian kilometres carry Austrian VAT.
Airport parking for your pickup
Any short-stay parking or forecourt charge the car pays while it waits for you at Salzburg, Innsbruck or Munich is counted in advance.
Gratuity is optional
A tip is offered once at payment, and you are free to decline.
Flight tracking
Add the flight number and the pickup moves with the aircraft, early or late, at no extra charge.
Sixty minutes after landing
Free waiting from the moment you actually land, enough for ski bags on the oversized belt. Fifteen minutes free at a hotel or chalet, then 15-minute increments you are told about first.
The named pickup point
Collection from the door or short-stay car park in the pre-arrival message is free. Meet and greet in arrivals is a paid add-on.
Free cancellation
Change or cancel without charge until 24 hours before pickup. Inside 24 hours the fare is charged in full, because a car and driver are committed, usually for a long return trip.
A licensed Tyrolean operator
Every domestic trip runs under a taxi concession granted by the Bezirkshauptmannschaft Kitzbühel, with a driver holding a Taxilenkerausweis. RYDES arranges the trip and the licensed operator carries it out.
Child seats and pets
Child seats are supplied on request as a paid add-on and fitted by the parent. Pets are a paid add-on; service animals travel free.
What is not included
Paid parking when you ask the car to wait somewhere that charges for it, away from the airport. Everything else is in the quote.

When you should not book us.

Kitzbühel is on the railway, with three stations in the town, and Austrian trains are good. For some trips a car is not the right answer.

IC, EC and Railjet trains stop at Kitzbühel station, most connections change at Wörgl, and Deutsche Bahn runs seven direct long-distance links a day to the Kitzbühel Alps. Kitzbühel tourism lists shared shuttles from Salzburg, Innsbruck and Munich airports at about 90 minutes, a reasonable choice if you travel alone with one bag. On Hahnenkamm race day the free Hahnenkamm Express, running since 1997 and as often as every 7.5 minutes at peak, carries about 47,000 people over the race weekend and is often the quickest way to the Streif finish. Free Park and Ride sites at Oberndorf and Kirchberg run shuttles about every 15 minutes. Drop-offs near the finish area are limited, so on race day the chauffeur's job is the airport run and the evenings, not the last kilometre to the course.

A chauffeur earns its price in other situations: a family with skis and several cases, a late arrival when the shuttles and connections have stopped, a Munich flight with a Saturday border queue, a chalet that no station or shuttle reaches, or an evening split between Kitzbühel and the SkiWelt. The cost comparison against a taxi is on Kitzbühel taxi versus chauffeur.

Kitzbühel questions.

If yours is not here, dispatch answers around the clock at +1 888 881 7933 or support@rydes.co.

Which airport is closest to Kitzbühel?

Salzburg Airport is the closest by road, about 75 to 80 km and typically 1 hour 20 to 1 hour 30 via Lofer. Innsbruck Airport is about 95 to 100 km and 1 hour 25 to 1 hour 40. Munich Airport is about 160 to 165 km across the German border, around 2 hours to 2 hours 20. See Salzburg Airport to Kitzbühel, Innsbruck Airport to Kitzbühel and Munich Airport to Kitzbühel.

Does Kitzbühel have an airport?

Not for airline flights. The nearest airfield is St. Johann in Tirol (LOIJ), about 14 km and 20 minutes away, with a 744 m asphalt runway and grass strips for small aircraft only, not business jets. Private jets and all airline flights use Salzburg, Innsbruck or Munich.

How much is a taxi from Salzburg Airport to Kitzbühel?

Kitzbühel tourism publishes indicative taxi fares for up to four people of about €160 from Salzburg, €180 from Innsbruck and €280 from Munich, with luggage extra and 10 to 15 percent more at night between 19:00 and 06:00. A RYDES transfer is a fixed fare by vehicle class, agreed before you fly, with VAT, the vignette and any toll inside it. See Kitzbühel taxi versus chauffeur.

Can you collect me at Munich Airport?

Yes, in most cases. Munich is in Germany, so the trip is cross-border and dispatch confirms it at booking rather than selling it automatically. Allow about 2 hours to 2 hours 20 for 160 to 165 km, and longer on winter Saturdays when the Kufstein border slows traffic. Carry a passport or identity card. See Munich Airport to Kitzbühel.

Where will my chauffeur meet me at the airport?

At the door or short-stay car park your chauffeur names in the message sent before you land, which is the free default. Any short-stay parking the car pays while waiting for you is inside the price. Meet and greet inside the arrivals hall, with a name board, is a paid add-on.

Are your Kitzbühel chauffeurs licensed?

Yes. Since 2021 Austria has one licence for paid passenger transport by car, Personenbeförderungsgewerbe mit Pkw – Taxi, so a chauffeur car and a taxi hold the same licence and differ in how the trip is booked and priced. In the district the concession is granted by the Bezirkshauptmannschaft Kitzbühel, and every driver holds a Taxilenkerausweis, renewed every five years after training and an exam.

Why is the price fixed if Tyrol sets taxi tariffs?

The Landeshauptmann of Tyrol sets taxi tariffs by ordinance, but an airport run leaves the local tariff area. For pre-booked trips, §14(1b) GelverkG allows a fixed price agreed at booking, with pickup and destination fixed, that cannot be exceeded and needs no taximeter. RYDES quotes that price, within any band the state sets for the trip.

Are the vignette, tolls and VAT included?

Yes. The motorway vignette (a one-day vignette is €9.60 in 2026, and from the 2027 vignette year it is digital only), any section toll on the route and the 10 percent VAT on passenger transport are all inside the fare in euros. The only cost outside it is paid parking if you ask the car to wait somewhere that charges for it.

Do I need to tip my chauffeur?

No. Gratuity is not included in the price and is entirely optional. A tip is offered once at payment and you can decline. The chauffeur's pay for the run was agreed before they accepted it.

Can you drive me to the Hahnenkamm races?

We can get you to Kitzbühel for race week and handle the evenings, but on race day itself the free Hahnenkamm Express trains, running up to every 7.5 minutes at peak, are often the fastest way to the Streif finish, and drop-offs near the finish are limited. Free Park and Ride at Oberndorf and Kirchberg has shuttles about every 15 minutes. See Hahnenkamm transfers.

When are the 2027 Hahnenkamm races?

The 87th Hahnenkamm races run from 18 to 24 January 2027. On the provisional programme, downhill training is Tuesday 19 to Thursday 21 January, the Super-G on Friday 22, the downhill on Saturday 23 and the slalom on the Ganslern on Sunday 24. Confirm against the official programme. About 80,000 visitors come each year, so book months ahead. See Kitzbühel events.

Do you need winter tyres to drive to Kitzbühel?

From 1 November to 15 April, cars in Austria may only be driven in wintry conditions with winter tyres, or with chains on snow-covered roads. The operator equips the car for your route, so it is not something you arrange. Between November and April, an SUV is the sensible class for chalets up steep drives.

Will the Tyrol weekend road closures affect my transfer?

On busy travel weekends Tyrol bans through traffic on selected minor roads to stop drivers avoiding the motorway. Destination traffic, including guests arriving and leaving, is exempt, and proof such as a hotel booking may be checked. Your chauffeur carries your booking confirmation. Dates for winter 2026/27 have not been published yet.

When does the 2026/27 ski season start in Kitzbühel?

KitzSki opens on 6 November 2026 on stored snow at the Resterkogel at weekends, with daily skiing from 28 November, the full area targeted for 11 December and the season ending on 4 April 2027. The SkiWelt runs 5 December to 4 April and St. Johann in Tirol 4 December to 29 March. See ski transfers and SkiWelt transfers.

How far ahead should I book in Kitzbühel?

At least 3 hours before pickup, so the operator can assign and brief a driver, and reservations open up to a year in advance. For the Hahnenkamm week, the Snow Polo World Cup on 15 to 17 January 2027, Christmas and New Year, book months ahead. Hourly hire has a two-hour minimum in 30-minute increments; see hourly chauffeur.
