Belfast airport transfersThe right shape for a day in Belfast city centre with several stops. The car waits between meetings, and parking is not your problem.
Hourly chauffeur in BelfastDublin, The Giant's Causeway and the Causeway Coast, Derry and Londonderry and beyond, door to door, with your luggage staying in the car the entire way.
Intercity rides from BelfastBelfast Harbour Cruise Terminal, timed to embarkation windows rather than to the clock, with luggage handling included.
Belfast cruise transfersA Belfast chauffeur service is pre-arranged ground transport booked ahead at a fixed price, carried out by a licensed for-hire operator. It is not hailed on the street and not dispatched on demand. The vehicle, the chauffeur and the price are all settled before the day of travel, whether the booking is a BHD airport transfer, an hourly car service or a black car to a morning meeting.
In practice that distinction decides what happens when things go wrong. A metered taxi and a surge-priced app both re-price themselves when traffic turns or the weather does. A reserved Belfast car service booking does not. The number you agreed is the number you pay, and it already contains the congestion charge, any clean air zone charge, the airport drop-off fee and VAT.
The same reservation covers the rest of the region: Belfast International transfers, Dublin transfers, City of Derry transfers, and a car service to Dublin when the trip runs further out. For companies moving people through the city regularly, corporate travel in Belfast adds central billing and duty-of-care reporting on top of the same fleet.
Which one is right depends far more on where you are going than on which is nearest. Each has its own page with terminal detail and pickup arrangements.
| Airport | Distance | Typical drive, off-peak | Typical drive, peak | Best for |

| DublinDUB | 100 miles | 1h 50 to 2h 15 | 2h 15 to 3h | Long-haul and transatlantic, across an international border |
| City of DerryLDY | 70 miles | 1h 20 to 1h 40 | 1h 35 to 2h 10 | The northwest, and the Causeway Coast |

Drive times are door to door from the arrivals kerb, not gate to gate, and they assume a direct private vehicle rather than a shared shuttle. Peak means roughly 07:00 to 10:00 and 15:30 to 19:30 on a weekday.
Belfast is the only UK market where the sensible airport for a long-haul flight is in another country, and the drive there crosses an international frontier with no checkpoint at all.
The two Belfast airports are not interchangeable. George Best Belfast City sits three miles from the centre on the lough shore and the transfer is ten to twenty minutes. Belfast International is eighteen miles northwest and takes thirty to forty. They serve different route networks, and booking a transfer to the wrong one is not a small error here. Give us a flight number rather than the word Belfast.
Dublin Airport, a hundred miles south, carries the transatlantic and long-haul routes that Northern Ireland does not, and a very large share of Belfast's long-haul travellers use it. The drive is around two hours on the M1 and it crosses the border between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. Under the Common Travel Area there is no routine checkpoint and no passport control for British and Irish citizens, and you will typically not notice the crossing beyond the road signs changing to kilometres. That said, it is an international border with a different jurisdiction, different currency and different insurance requirements for the vehicle. Cross-border journeys have to be arranged at the time of booking rather than requested on the day, because not every operator and vehicle is covered for them.
Speed limits and distances change at the border. Northern Ireland uses miles per hour, the Republic uses kilometres per hour, and satellite navigation set for one does not always adapt cleanly to the other. That is an operator's problem rather than yours, but it explains why the drive time range on the Dublin run is wider than the distance suggests.
The Causeway Coast is the leisure pillar here. The Giant's Causeway, the coast road, Portrush and the distilleries are typically booked as a full day by the hour rather than as transfers, because the value is in the vehicle waiting at each stop rather than in getting from one point to another.
Details above were checked against public sources at the time of writing. Rates, terminal assignments and construction timelines in this section change faster than any website updates, so treat your chauffeur's message on the day as the authority.
Published transfer times are usually the best case. These are ranges, and the upper end happens often enough to plan around.
| Route | Off-peak | Weekday peak | What moves it |
|---|---|---|---|
| BHD to the city centre | 10 to 20 min | 20 to 35 min | Three miles, and one of the shortest airport runs in Britain |
| BFS to the city centre | 30 to 40 min | 40 to 65 min | The M2 south, and the difference between the two airports is real |
| BHD to the Titanic Quarter | 10 to 15 min | 15 to 30 min | Next to the airport, and the main visitor draw |
| BFS to Holywood and Bangor | 40 to 55 min | 55 to 85 min | Right across the city and out along the lough |
| BHD to Lisburn | 25 to 35 min | 35 to 55 min | South on the M1, the commuter corridor |
| Dublin Airport to Belfast | 1h 50 to 2h 15 | 2h 15 to 3h | The M1 north, crossing the border without a checkpoint |
Each route above has its own page with pricing by vehicle class, the roads actually used and the times worth avoiding.
Intercity runs are priced as one fixed fare for the whole journey, not per hour, so the traffic is our problem rather than yours.

Embarkation day luggage runs heavier than air travel for the same trip length, because there is no airline weight limit pushing back. Size one class above your instinct and read the guidance on Belfast cruise transfers before you book.
The chauffeur meeting you is dispatched by an operator based here, not routed in from another market.

No meter, no surge multiplier, and no line item that appears after the ride is over.
George Best Belfast City is three miles from the centre and there are frequent Airport Express buses from both airports for a few pounds. If you are travelling alone with a carry-on into the city centre, the bus is a reasonable booking and we would not pretend the difference is enormous.
A chauffeur earns its price on the Dublin run where the border, the insurance and the two hours are the actual service, on the Causeway Coast days booked hourly, with golf clubs for Royal County Down and Royal Portrush, with a group, and for anyone arriving at Belfast International late in the evening when the bus service thins out.
The full cost and time comparison against the meter is on Belfast taxi versus chauffeur.
The terminal assignment, the pickup zone that moved last month, the parking permit for that garage. None of it reaches you.
Pickup, drop-off, date and time. Add a flight number and we track the aircraft rather than the schedule.

It depends far more on your destination than on distance. George Best Belfast City (BHD), Belfast International (BFS), Dublin (DUB) are the main options, and the drive times differ enough that the cheapest ticket is often not the cheapest arrival. The table above sets out distance and typical drive time for each, and every airport has its own page with terminal detail and pickup arrangements.
In the designated pre-arranged pickup area for your terminal, with the chauffeur calling as you reach the doors. Pickup zones at BHD change during construction and reorganisation, so the operator confirms the current meeting point on the morning of your flight rather than relying on anything printed in advance. Being met inside arrivals on your name is a paid add-on.
Between 10 to 20 min off-peak and 20 to 35 min in weekday peak traffic, door to door from the arrivals kerb. Published figures shorter than that usually describe a quiet Sunday morning. Each route from the airport has its own page with the roads used and the times worth avoiding.
Yes. Congestion charging, ULEZ and clean air zone charges, any remaining tolls, airport drop-off and pickup fees and VAT are all inside the price quoted at booking. Drop-off charges now apply at almost every significant UK airport and are the ones travellers least expect. An app service will typically pass them through separately or route you to a distant car park to avoid them.
Yes. Every vehicle is run by a for-hire operator licensed in its own jurisdiction, with licensing and insurance verified before they can take a booking rather than checked per ride.
Sixty minutes of free waiting from the actual landing time, tracked against the aircraft rather than the schedule, which covers immigration, baggage and customs. Every other pickup includes 15 minutes. Beyond the free window, waiting is billed in 15-minute increments at the vehicle class rate and you are told before it starts.
At least 3 hours before pickup so the operator can assign and brief a chauffeur, though RYDES takes reservations up to a year out. For group vehicles and for the busy weeks noted above, book as early as you can, because availability runs out long before price becomes the problem.
Add your flight number and we track the aircraft. A delay moves your pickup automatically and costs nothing, with free waiting starting at the actual landing time. A diversion is handled by dispatch, who will re-brief a chauffeur to the new field where the operator has coverage. Dispatch answers around the clock on +1 888 881 7933.
Yes, with a two-hour minimum in 30-minute increments. The chauffeur waits between stops and nothing runs while you are inside a meeting. Once a day involves three or more stops, hourly hire is usually cheaper than separate transfers once you count the waiting you would have done anyway.
Yes, and it is one of our most frequent bookings here, but it has to be arranged at the time of booking rather than requested on the day. The drive is around a hundred miles and roughly two hours, and it crosses the border between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. Not every operator and vehicle is insured and licensed for cross-border work, so it is assigned specifically rather than dispatched generally.
Under the Common Travel Area there is no routine passport control on the land border for British and Irish citizens, and there is no checkpoint on the road. Other nationalities should carry their travel documents and check the immigration requirements for the Republic of Ireland before travelling, since it is a separate jurisdiction with its own rules. We are not able to advise on your individual immigration position.
It matters a great deal, so check rather than assume. George Best Belfast City is three miles from the centre and the transfer is ten to twenty minutes. Belfast International is eighteen miles northwest and takes thirty to forty. They carry different route networks and are on opposite sides of the city. Give us the flight number when you book and it is settled before you land.
