What is a Monterrey chauffeur service?

A Monterrey chauffeur service is private ground transport booked in advance at a fixed price in US dollars, carried out by a licensed chauffeur operator working under applicable state mobility permits from the Instituto de Movilidad y Accesibilidad de Nuevo León and, for airport collections, the federal tourism transport permit issued by SICT together with the airport operator's access authorisation. You do not hail it and it is not dispatched to whoever happens to be nearby. The car, the chauffeur and the total are agreed beforehand, whether you need an MTY airport transfer, an hourly car service between San Pedro and a plant in Apodaca, or a black car to a board meeting in Valle Oriente.

That matters at MTY more than at most airports. Ride-hailing apps are not authorised to collect inside Mexican airport zones, and at Monterrey the app pickup bay sits roughly 250 metres from Terminal C, outside the terminals. The authorised airport taxi works on zone vouchers bought at a counter inside the terminal. A reserved Monterrey car service skips both: the chauffeur is allowed to meet you at the terminal, the price was settled when you booked, and it already holds the 16 percent IVA and any tolls on the route. For a side-by-side view, see the taxi alternative in Monterrey.

The same booking reaches the rest of the metro and the region. MTY to San Pedro Garza García, MTY to downtown Monterrey, MTY to Santa Catarina, the Cintermex convention centre during trade shows, and a car service from MTY to Saltillo for the automotive plants across the state line. Companies moving engineers, auditors and executives through the city every week can put all of it on corporate travel in Monterrey, with central billing on the same licensed operators.

Times run door to door in a direct private vehicle. Peak means the weekday morning and evening commute, and the corridor between Apodaca and San Pedro is where most of that delay sits. Clásico Regio match days between Rayados and Tigres, Cintermex trade shows and the Pa'l Norte festival weekend at Parque Fundidora in spring fall outside both columns and should be planned separately. Del Norte timings depend on where in the metro you are heading, so the booking quotes them to the address.

How pickup works at MTY.

Monterrey's main airport is in the middle of a long expansion, and pickup rules at Mexican airports are stricter than many travellers expect. Here is what is published, and what is not.

Terminals A, B and C.

MTY carried 15.6 million passengers in 2025, 15 percent more than the year before, across Terminals A, B and C. OMA, the airport operator, finished the first phase of the Terminal A expansion with the East Concourse in June 2024, adding 88,000 square metres. Phase 2, with a new security checkpoint, a new baggage claim and more gates, is being built through 2026, so walking routes inside Terminal A can shift from one trip to the next.

Recent additions include 3D CT security scanners, self-service bag drop, e-gates and biometric passport checks, and OMA has committed MXN 8 billion of investment between 2025/26 and 2030. We do not publish which airline uses which terminal, because those assignments move. Your boarding pass on the day is the reference.

Taxis, apps and pre-booked cars.

Inside the federal airport zone, only concession taxis, holders of a federal tourism transport permit from SICT (Secretaría de Infraestructura, Comunicaciones y Transportes) and operators with the airport operator's access authorisation may collect passengers. At MTY the authorised taxis work on zone vouchers: you pay at a counter inside the terminal and hand the voucher to the driver outside.

Ride-hailing apps are a different case. SICT stated on 30 October 2025 that apps are not authorised to pick up at Mexican airports, and app cars cannot enter the MTY terminals. Around June 2026 a dedicated app pickup bay opened about 250 metres from Terminal C, which means a walk with your bags. Every RYDES airport pickup is carried out by a licensed chauffeur operator holding the SICT federal tourism permit and the airport's access authorisation, and that is what allows the chauffeur to meet you at the terminal itself. OMA has not published a single meeting point for pre-arranged cars, so your chauffeur confirms the exact door in the message sent before you land.

Del Norte and the FBOs.

Del Norte International in Apodaca is Monterrey's business and private aviation airport. ExecuJet runs the FBO there, and the chauffeur is briefed to meet you at the FBO rather than at a public terminal door.

Business aircraft that land at MTY instead are handled by Universal Aviation Monterrey or ICCS Monterrey. Give us the tail number or the FBO name when you book and the pickup is set up at that handler. From either field, the onward drive is usually to San Pedro Garza García or one of the industrial parks, and timing for the first of those is on MTY to San Pedro.

Terminal and pickup facts above were checked against public sources in October 2026. With Terminal A phase 2 under way, door numbers and walkways can change, so treat the chauffeur's pre-arrival message as the authority on where to walk.

Tolls, IVA and airport access.

Monterrey has no congestion charge. A fare here grows through toll roads, the 16 percent IVA and the cost of permission to collect at the airport, and each of those reaches the passenger differently depending on how you travel.

The road from MTY towards the city has a tolled fast route on the state toll network, normally MXN 63 for a car. Since 11 February 2026 passage has been temporarily free because of the Metro Line 6 works, and that can change without much notice. Further out, the Monterrey–Saltillo toll road charges MXN 150 between Ojo Caliente and Morones Prieto from April 2026, the booths between Monterrey and Reynosa come to about MXN 536 in total before the US bridge toll, and the 221 km toll road to Nuevo Laredo is the fastest way north. When a route uses any of these, the toll is already in your RYDES price.

IVA, Mexico's value added tax, is 16 percent across the Monterrey metro. The reduced 8 percent border-zone rate applies in Nuevo León only to Anáhuac, so it does not reach a Monterrey fare. IVA, tolls and the cost of the airport access authorisation are all inside the number you are quoted, in US dollars. The one exception is paid parking, when you ask the car to wait somewhere that charges for it.

How charges and pickup work for an arrival at MTY, by way of travelling. Taxi zone rates are set by the authorised airport taxi service.

Which road the chauffeur takes between Apodaca and San Pedro depends on the hour, the Metro Line 6 works and the toll status that week. None of that changes the quoted total. The full comparison with a taxi voucher and an app ride is on Monterrey taxi versus chauffeur.

How long the drives really take.

Monterrey sprawls across a valley, and the airport sits on the far side of it from San Pedro. These ranges are what operators plan to, and the top of each one is common enough to book around.

Heat changes a Monterrey day more than weather does elsewhere. Between roughly May and September, midday temperatures are extreme, and nobody should be waiting outside with luggage, which is one reason the 60 free minutes start at landing rather than at a fixed time. Metro Line 4 and Line 6 construction also narrows lanes on some arterials until the lines open, with full Line 6 service expected in September to October 2027.

Out of the valley.

Intercity and day-trip runs are sold as one fixed fare for the whole journey, so a slow border queue or a Sunday return from Santiago is the operator's cost rather than yours.

Common day trips and city-to-city routes from central Monterrey, with approximate road distance and driving time.

A run into the United States needs more than passports for everyone in the car. The vehicle has to be operated by a company authorised to carry passengers in both Mexico and the United States, so Laredo, McAllen and other US destinations are confirmed by dispatch at booking rather than sold automatically. Border runs are scheduled in daylight. Entry fees at Chipinque, Cola de Caballo, García Caves and other parks are government or site charges paid by each visitor and are not part of the fare.

What a Monterrey fare covers.

No meter, no demand pricing and nothing added to the card after the trip.

IVA and tolls
The 16 percent IVA and any tolls the route uses, from the airport fast road to the Saltillo and Reynosa booths, are inside the total quoted in US dollars.
Airport access
The permit and access cost that lets a pre-booked car collect inside the MTY airport zone is already counted. Del Norte and the FBOs are handled the same way.
Tipping is optional
The chauffeur accepted this trip at an agreed rate, so pay does not hinge on a tip. You are offered the option once at payment and can say no.
Flight tracking
We follow the flight number you give us. If the aircraft is early or late, the pickup time moves with it and nothing is added.
An hour free at the airport
Sixty minutes of waiting from the real landing time, enough for immigration, customs and baggage. Every other pickup has fifteen free minutes, then 15-minute increments you are told about first.
Standard pickup at the terminal
Collection at the terminal exit your chauffeur names costs nothing extra. Being met inside arrivals with a name sign is a paid add-on.
Free cancellation
Cancel or change at no cost until 24 hours before pickup. Inside 24 hours the booking is charged in full, because the car and chauffeur are already held for you.
A licensed operator
Every Monterrey car is run by a licensed chauffeur operator working under applicable state mobility permits, with the SICT federal tourism permit and airport access for airport work.
Child seats, pets, service animals
Child seats are a paid add-on, supplied by the operator and fitted by the parent. Pets are a paid add-on. Service animals ride free.
What sits outside the fare
Paid parking where you ask the car to wait, and park or site entry fees for each visitor on day trips.

When you should not book us.

Monterrey does not yet have a rail link to the airport, so the case against a chauffeur here is about cost and distance rather than a faster train.

Flying in alone with a carry-on and heading to a plant in an Apodaca industrial park 5 to 15 km away, an authorised airport taxi on a zone voucher from the counter inside the terminal does the job, and the trip is short enough that a fixed booking adds little. There is no metro to the airport today. Metro Line 6 is being built to end at the airport, with Lines 4 and 6 over 70 percent complete in June 2026 and full service expected in September to October 2027. When it opens, a solo traveller to a station-side hotel may be better served by the train.

A chauffeur is worth its price in other situations: a 25 to 35 km run to San Pedro at peak, several stops in a day across the metro, a team with sample cases, a late arrival when you do not want to walk 250 m to the app bay, a client who should be met at the door, or a run to Saltillo or the border. That covers most business trips into Monterrey, not every one, and we would rather say so. The cost comparison is on Monterrey taxi versus chauffeur.

Monterrey questions.

If yours is not here, dispatch answers around the clock at +1 888 881 7933 or support@rydes.co.

Which airport should I use for Monterrey?

For scheduled flights, MTY, the General Mariano Escobedo International Airport in Apodaca, operated by OMA. It handles virtually all airline traffic, with Terminals A, B and C. Del Norte International (NTR), also in Apodaca, is the city's business and private aviation airport, with an ExecuJet FBO. See MTY airport transfers and Del Norte airport transfers.

Where does my chauffeur meet me at MTY?

At the terminal exit confirmed in the message you receive before landing. OMA does not publish a single meeting point for pre-arranged cars, and Terminal A is being expanded, so the chauffeur names the exact door for your terminal. Meet and greet inside arrivals with a name sign is a paid add-on. Detail is on the MTY airport transfer page.

Can I take an Uber or DiDi from Monterrey airport?

Not from the terminal. SICT stated on 30 October 2025 that ride-hailing apps are not authorised to pick up at Mexican airports, and app cars cannot enter the MTY terminals. A dedicated app pickup bay opened around June 2026 about 250 metres from Terminal C. A RYDES chauffeur is a licensed operator with the SICT federal tourism permit and airport access, which is why it can collect at the terminal. Compare options on Monterrey taxi alternative.

How do airport taxis work at MTY?

Authorised airport taxis are paid in advance. You buy a zone voucher at a counter inside the terminal, then hand it to the taxi driver outside. The price depends on the zone of your destination. It is a sound option for a short ride with light luggage; a pre-booked chauffeur adds a fixed price at booking, a named vehicle class and free waiting for delayed flights.

How long is the drive from MTY to San Pedro Garza García?

MTY to San Pedro Garza García is about 25 to 35 km, usually 30 to 45 minutes off-peak and 50 to 90 minutes in weekday peak traffic. Downtown Monterrey is about 24 km, 25 to 40 minutes off-peak. See MTY to San Pedro Garza García and MTY to Valle Oriente.

Are your Monterrey chauffeurs licensed?

Yes. Every vehicle is run by a licensed chauffeur operator working under applicable state mobility permits under the Ley de Movilidad Sostenible y Accesibilidad para el Estado de Nuevo León, regulated by the Instituto de Movilidad y Accesibilidad de Nuevo León. For airport pickups the operator also holds the SICT federal tourism transport permit and the airport operator's access authorisation. These are checked before an operator can accept bookings.

Are tolls, IVA and airport fees included in the price?

Yes. The 16 percent IVA, tolls on the route and the airport access cost are all inside the price quoted in US dollars. The Monterrey metro is not in the 8 percent border zone; in Nuevo León that rate applies only to Anáhuac. Paid parking where you ask the car to wait is the only extra. See Monterrey car service.

Is the airport toll road free at the moment?

The tolled fast road from the airport is normally MXN 63 for a car. Passage has been temporarily free since 11 February 2026 because of the Metro Line 6 works, and that status may change. Either way, when a route uses a toll road, the toll is included in a RYDES fare, so the change does not affect your price.

Can I take the metro from Monterrey airport?

Not yet. There is no metro service to MTY today. Metro Line 6 is being built to end at the airport; Lines 4 and 6 were over 70 percent complete in June 2026, and full Line 6 service is expected in September to October 2027. Until then, the options are an authorised airport taxi, the app pickup bay near Terminal C, or a pre-booked car.

Can you collect me from a private jet at Del Norte or MTY?

Yes. At Del Norte International the chauffeur meets you at the ExecuJet FBO. At MTY, business aircraft use Universal Aviation Monterrey or ICCS Monterrey, and the pickup is arranged with the FBO you name at booking. Give us the tail number and we track the arrival. See Del Norte airport transfers.

Can you drive me to Saltillo?

Yes. Saltillo is about 85 km from central Monterrey, around 1 hour to 1 hour 30 by the toll road, longer from MTY because the drive first crosses the metro. The Ojo Caliente–Morones Prieto toll of MXN 150 is included in the fare. See Monterrey to Saltillo and MTY to Saltillo.

Can you take me across the border to Laredo or McAllen?

Sometimes. A cross-border run needs an operator authorised to carry passengers in both Mexico and the United States, so dispatch confirms it at booking rather than selling it automatically. Every passenger needs a passport. Nuevo Laredo is 221 km by toll road, about 2.5 to 3 hours plus the border wait; McAllen via Reynosa is about 3 hours plus the crossing. See Monterrey to Laredo and Monterrey to McAllen.

What does the US State Department advisory say about Nuevo León?

As of the advisory dated 29 May 2026, the US State Department rates Nuevo León at Level 2, Exercise increased caution, and advises against driving after dark between the US border and Monterrey on Highways 85/85D, 54 and 40/40D. RYDES schedules border runs in daylight, confirmed by dispatch at booking. Current guidance is at travel.state.gov.

Can I book a car by the hour for plant visits?

Yes. Hourly hire has a two-hour minimum and is billed in 30-minute increments after that. The chauffeur stays with the car while you are inside, which suits a day moving between San Pedro, the Apodaca and Escobedo parks and Salinas Victoria. Paid parking at a stop is the only cost outside the quote. See hourly chauffeur hire and industrial park transfers.

How far ahead should I book in Monterrey?

At least 3 hours before pickup, so the operator can assign and brief a chauffeur, and up to a year ahead. Book early for Cintermex trade shows, Clásico Regio match days, the Pa'l Norte festival at Parque Fundidora in spring, and the December holidays. Teams travelling often should look at corporate accounts and Cintermex transfers.

Do Monterrey chauffeurs speak English?

English is not guaranteed. Add a request for an English-speaking chauffeur in the booking notes and the operator confirms whether one can be assigned. Pickup messages and booking details are sent in writing, so the essentials are clear either way.

What time zone is Monterrey in, and what if my flight is late?

Monterrey is on UTC−6 all year; Mexico dropped daylight saving time in 2022. Pickup times are in local time. Add your flight number and we track the aircraft: a delay moves the pickup at no cost, and the 60 free minutes start at the actual landing. Dispatch answers around the clock on +1 888 881 7933.
