How The Hague gets booked.

A delegation landing at Schiphol, a lawyer due at a hearing, a conference week at the World Forum. One fleet and one pricing rule, dispatched for each.

What is a chauffeur service in The Hague?

A The Hague chauffeur service is a pre-booked private car with a professional driver at a price fixed before the trip, run by an operator holding a Dutch taxi licence (vergunning taxivervoer) issued through Kiwa Register and enforced by the Inspectie Leefomgeving en Transport (ILT). In the Netherlands a chauffeur car is legally a taxi; what differs is that the price and the car are fixed before you travel. Whether it is a Schiphol airport transfer, an hourly car service between ministries or a black car to a hearing, the vehicle class and the driver are assigned before the day.

For The Hague the detail that matters is the destination rather than the drive. The Peace Palace, the International Criminal Court and the organisations near Eisenhowerlaan all run security perimeters, and a visitor is usually told by the institution which gate or entrance to use. A booked Hague car service takes that instruction from you, dispatch confirms it with the operator, and the driver stops where you are expected rather than where a satnav suggests. That is the practical case for a taxi alternative that is fixed in advance.

The same reservation covers the wider Randstad. Rotterdam The Hague Airport transfers take about half the time of Schiphol, Delft and Leiden sit within half an hour, and Rotterdam and Amsterdam are single fixed fares. For organisations moving delegations through the city every month, corporate travel in The Hague adds central invoicing and traveller profiles on the same fleet, and every airport-to-court route is priced to the door.

The airports that serve The Hague.

The Hague has no airport of its own. Most international arrivals come through Schiphol, about 45 km north-east, while Rotterdam The Hague Airport, about 20 km south-east, is the closer choice when the route allows.

Rotterdam The HagueRTM, RotterdamAbout 20 km20 to 30 minutes30 to 50 minutesEuropean routes into the closest airport, and the quickest run to the ICC, the Peace Palace or the centre

Drive times are door to door from the pickup point in a direct private vehicle. Peak means roughly 07:00 to 09:30 and 16:00 to 18:30 on a weekday, when the A4 and A13 slow sharply. Prinsjesdag, large World Forum conferences and sunny summer weekends towards Scheveningen sit outside both columns. Arriving by rail instead, Den Haag Centraal is a normal pickup address; for Amsterdam and Rotterdam hubs, see Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

Where your chauffeur meets you.

Schiphol publishes clear zones for collecting passengers, and Rotterdam The Hague is small enough to be straightforward. In The Hague itself, the harder question is where a car is allowed to stop at a court.

Schiphol.

At Schiphol, for a pre-booked car the free default is a collection from Kiss & Ride, which is free for very short stops, or from P1 Pick up and Drop off, about a 2 to 6 minute walk from Schiphol Plaza, which charges €2.70 per 20 minutes. Your chauffeur names the exact zone in the message sent before you land, and any parking charge incurred for your pickup is already inside a RYDES price.

App-booked taxis use a separate pick-up point on Koepelstraat, so do not follow those signs if you have booked with us. The drive itself is the A4 south past Leiden; timing and route detail are on Schiphol to The Hague, Schiphol to the Peace Palace and Schiphol to the World Forum.

  • Kiss & Ride or P1, the free defaultYour chauffeur waits in the zone named in the pre-arrival message and you walk out to the car.
  • Meet and greet, a paid add-onThe chauffeur waits inside arrivals with your name, useful for a first-time visitor or a delegation with bags.
  • Not the Koepelstraat pointThat pick-up point is for app taxis. A pre-booked chauffeur meets you where the message says.

Rotterdam The Hague Airport.

Rotterdam The Hague Airport handled 2.36 million passengers in 2025 and works from one compact terminal. The Kiss & Ride is close to the terminal doors and the P1 car park sits opposite, so the walk to the car is short whichever your chauffeur names.

For anyone working at the International Criminal Court or the Peace Palace, RTM often cuts the airport run in half compared with Schiphol, about 20 to 35 minutes off-peak. The A13 north is the route, joined to the city ring by the Rotterdamsebaan tunnel. See RTM to The Hague and RTM to the ICC.

Courts and international organisations.

The Peace Palace at Carnegieplein 2 houses the International Court of Justice and the Permanent Court of Arbitration; visitor tours must be booked in advance. The International Criminal Court is at Oude Waalsdorperweg 10 in the dunes, and Europol is at Eisenhowerlaan 73, near the OPCW. Each manages its own access, and parties, counsel and visitors are normally told which entrance to use.

Pass that instruction on in the booking notes. Dispatch confirms it with the operator, and the driver drops you at the entrance the visitor office named, not at the nearest kerb. If security has moved the perimeter on the day, the driver follows the officers on site and tells you where to walk.

Airport and building details above were checked against public sources in October 2026. Pickup zones and security arrangements change, so treat your chauffeur's pre-arrival message and the institution's own visitor instructions as the authority on the day.

VAT, parking and the milieuzone.

The Hague has no congestion charge and the routes in from both airports carry no tolls. What changes a fare here is VAT, the airport parking a pickup needs, and the low-emission zone in the centre.

Passenger transport in the Netherlands carries the low VAT rate, and 9 percent VAT is inside every RYDES price. The few tolled crossings in the country are tunnels and bridges such as the Kiltunnel, Nieuwerbrug and the Blankenburgtunnel on the A24; the usual Schiphol and RTM runs into The Hague use none of them, and if a route ever does, the toll is in the quote. Pickup parking at Schiphol or RTM is handled the same way.

The city centre is a milieuzone, bounded by the Centrumring (S100) and Prof. B.M. Teldersweg (S200). Diesel cars must be emission class 4 or higher to enter, and cameras enforce it. RYDES operators' cars meet the rules for the route, so the zone never becomes your problem. Dutch maximum taxi tariffs apply to street hails and ranks; a pre-booked trip is a fixed price agreed in advance, with no meter needed.

Route choice is the operator's call and does not change your fare. From Schiphol a driver can stay on the A4 into the city or use the Rotterdamsebaan and its 1.8 km Victory Boogie Woogie tunnel, open since 20 February 2021, to reach the city ring; from RTM the A13 and the same tunnel are usual. The full comparison with a metered fare is on The Hague taxi versus chauffeur.

How long the drive takes.

The distances are short by international standards, but the A4 between Schiphol and The Hague is one of the busiest roads in the country. Plan on the upper figure for anything with a fixed start time.

Security closures move these numbers more than traffic does. Prinsjesdag, state visits and summits close streets around the centre at short notice, and the specific closures are rarely published in advance. For a hearing or a session you cannot miss, add half the off-peak time again and let dispatch know the start time when you book.

Beyond The Hague.

City-to-city runs are one fixed fare for the whole journey, so a slow A4 or A13 is the operator's cost rather than yours.

What a The Hague price contains.

No meter, no demand pricing and nothing added once you are out of the car.

VAT and any tolls
The 9 percent VAT and any toll on the route are inside the euro figure you accept at booking.
Airport pickup parking
The Kiss & Ride or P1 charge at Schiphol, and the equivalent at RTM, is counted already when it is incurred for your pickup.
Gratuity is your decision
The operator agreed the fare for this job before accepting it, so the chauffeur's pay does not depend on a tip. You are offered the option once, at payment.
Flight tracking
Add the flight number and the aircraft is watched from departure. An early or late arrival moves the pickup at no charge.
An hour at the airport
Sixty minutes free from the actual landing, which covers border control and baggage at Schiphol. Fifteen minutes free at any other pickup, then 15-minute increments, announced before they start.
The standard pickup
Collection at the zone your chauffeur names before you land. Being met inside arrivals with your name is a paid add-on.
Free cancellation
Cancel or change free of charge up to 24 hours before pickup. Inside 24 hours the booking is charged in full, because the car and driver are already committed.
A licensed operator
Every car is run by an operator with a Dutch taxi licence, carries blue licence plates (blauw kenteken) and is RDW-registered as a taxi; every driver holds the CBR taxi diploma and a chauffeurskaart.
Child seats and pets
Child seats are supplied on request as a paid add-on and fitted by the parent. Pets are a paid add-on; service animals always ride free.
What is not included
Parking you ask for at a stop of your own, such as a car held outside a restaurant in Scheveningen. Everything else is in the quote.

When you should not book us.

The Dutch rail network is good, and between Schiphol and The Hague it is often the faster way to travel.

Alone with a carry-on and heading to a hotel near Den Haag Centraal, take the train. It leaves Schiphol about every 10 minutes, takes 27 to 48 minutes depending on the service, and costs about €9.80 single. From Centraal, tram 17 reaches the Kunstmuseum stop for the World Forum in about 14 minutes, tram 9 runs to the Kurhaus at Scheveningen, and RandstadRail line E goes on to Rotterdam. From Rotterdam The Hague Airport, bus 33 and then metro E take about 41 minutes for about €4.94, against a taxi that the tourism board puts at about 30 minutes and €55 to €75.

A chauffeur is worth it in other circumstances: luggage or document boxes you cannot carry through a station, three or more people travelling together, children, a landing after the last convenient train, a destination the tram does not reach well such as the ICC or a residence in Wassenaar, a programme of several stops, or a court entrance you need to reach on time and at the right gate. That covers most of our bookings, but not every trip. The cost comparison is on The Hague taxi versus chauffeur.

The Hague questions.

Which airport is better for The Hague, Schiphol or Rotterdam The Hague?

Schiphol, about 45 km away, has far more flights and is the usual gateway for long-haul and official travel. Rotterdam The Hague Airport, about 20 km away, is closer and usually 20 to 35 minutes from the ICC, the Peace Palace or the centre off-peak, but serves fewer routes. Compare Schiphol to The Hague with RTM to The Hague.

Is a chauffeur car in the Netherlands a taxi?

Yes, legally. Under the Wet personenvervoer 2000, all paid passenger transport by car for up to eight passengers is taxivervoer. The operator holds a taxi licence through Kiwa Register, enforced by the ILT, the driver holds the CBR taxi diploma and a chauffeurskaart, and the car has blue licence plates. What differs from a rank taxi is that the price and the car are fixed before you travel.

Where does my chauffeur meet me at Schiphol?

At the Kiss & Ride or the P1 Pick up and Drop off car park, a 2 to 6 minute walk from Schiphol Plaza, as named in the message your chauffeur sends before you land. Any parking charge for the pickup is in the price. The Koepelstraat point is for app taxis, not for us. Meet and greet inside arrivals is a paid add-on. See Schiphol to The Hague.

Can you drop me at the Peace Palace or the ICC?

Yes. The Peace Palace is at Carnegieplein 2 and the International Criminal Court at Oude Waalsdorperweg 10. Both manage their own access, so put the entrance the visitor office gave you in the booking notes; dispatch confirms it with the operator and the driver stops there. Peace Palace visitor tours must be booked in advance. See Peace Palace transfers and ICC transfers.

Are VAT, tolls and airport charges included?

Yes. The 9 percent VAT, any toll on the route and the airport parking charge for your pickup are all inside the euro price quoted at booking. The only cost outside it is parking you ask for at a stop of your own. The comparison is on The Hague taxi versus chauffeur.

Does the milieuzone affect my booking?

No. The centre inside the Centrumring and Prof. B.M. Teldersweg is a camera-enforced low-emission zone where diesel cars must be emission class 4 or higher. RYDES operators' cars meet the rules for the route, so there is nothing for you to check or pay.

How long is Schiphol to The Hague by car?

Usually 40 to 55 minutes off-peak to Den Haag Centraal and 55 to 90 minutes in weekday peak traffic on the A4. The Peace Palace and the World Forum are a few minutes beyond. See Schiphol to the Peace Palace and Schiphol to the World Forum.

Would the train from Schiphol be better?

Often, if you travel light. Trains run from Schiphol to Den Haag Centraal about every 10 minutes, take 27 to 48 minutes depending on the service and cost about €9.80 single. A chauffeur makes more sense with heavy luggage, with three or more people, with children, late at night, or for a destination away from the tram lines.

Can you take me to the World Forum for a conference?

Yes. The World Forum is at Churchillplein 10, with 17,500 m² of space and a 2,161-seat theatre; it hosted the NATO summit in 2025. Large events bring security and queues at the entrance, so book early and allow extra time. Tram 17 from Centraal is about 14 minutes if you travel light. See World Forum transfers.

Where is Parliament during the Binnenhof renovation?

The Binnenhof is under renovation until summer 2031, at a cost of about €2.7bn. MPs sit in the former Foreign Affairs building, known as B67, until at least 2031. Give the exact building and entrance in the booking notes and the driver goes there rather than to the Binnenhof.

What happens on Prinsjesdag?

Prinsjesdag falls on the third Tuesday of September, 21 September 2027 next year. Since 2022 the King's speech has been given at the Koninklijke Schouwburg because of the Binnenhof works. Expect security closures in the centre; the specific closures are not published far ahead, so dispatch plans the route on the day and you should allow extra time.

Do you provide transport for embassies and delegations?

Yes. Missions book single transfers, hourly hire and multi-day programmes with the same driver where possible, with central invoicing on a corporate account. Diplomatic plates and protection vehicles are outside what we supply; we work alongside them. See embassy transport in The Hague and corporate travel.

Can I book a car by the hour in The Hague?

Yes, with a two-hour minimum in 30-minute increments. The driver waits between ministries, hearings and receptions, and nothing is added while you are inside. Paid parking you ask for at a stop is the one cost outside the quote. See hourly chauffeur hire.

Do you go to Scheveningen, Delft and Leiden?

Yes. Scheveningen is part of the city and busy on summer weekends. Delft is about 10 km from Den Haag Centraal and Leiden about 17 km, usually 15 to 25 and 20 to 35 minutes. Each is a fixed fare. See Scheveningen, The Hague to Delft and The Hague to Leiden.

Can you drive me from The Hague to Brussels?

Usually, yes. Brussels is about 180 km away. Cross-border journeys are confirmed by dispatch at booking rather than sold automatically, so the operator can run the whole trip, and the fare is fixed once confirmed. See The Hague to Brussels.

How far in advance should I book?

At least 3 hours ahead so the operator can assign and brief a driver, and up to a year ahead. For Prinsjesdag, large World Forum conferences, summer weekends at Scheveningen and Parkpop on the Malieveld, book as early as you can. Note that clocks go back on 25 October 2026. Teams booking often should look at corporate accounts.

Will my chauffeur speak English?

Do not assume a particular language. If you need an English-speaking driver, or another language, say so in the booking notes and the operator confirms availability before the day. Dispatch answers around the clock on +1 888 881 7933.
