Bordeaux airport transfersThe right shape for a day in central Bordeaux with several stops. The car waits between meetings, and parking is not your problem.
Hourly chauffeur in BordeauxSaint-Émilion, The Médoc and Pauillac, Arcachon and Cap Ferret and beyond, door to door, with your luggage staying in the car the entire way.
Intercity rides from BordeauxPort de Bordeaux, timed to embarkation windows rather than to the clock, with luggage handling included.
Bordeaux cruise transfersA Bordeaux chauffeur service is pre-arranged ground transport booked ahead at a fixed price, carried out by a registered VTC operator. It is not hailed on the street and not dispatched on demand. The vehicle, the chauffeur and the price are all settled before the day of travel, whether the booking is a BOD airport transfer, an hourly car service or a black car to a morning meeting.
In practice that distinction decides what happens when things go wrong. A metered taxi and a surge-priced app both re-price themselves when traffic turns or the weather does. A reserved Bordeaux car service booking does not. The number you agreed is the number you pay, and it already contains the autoroute tolls, the airport fees and VAT.
The same reservation covers the rest of the region: Biarritz Pays Basque transfers, Toulouse-Blagnac transfers, La Rochelle transfers, and a car service to Saint-Émilion when the trip runs further out. For companies moving people through the city regularly, corporate travel in Bordeaux adds central billing and duty-of-care reporting on top of the same fleet.
Which one is right depends far more on where you are going than on which is nearest. Each has its own page with terminal detail and pickup arrangements.
| Airport | Distance | Typical drive, off-peak | Typical drive, peak | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bordeaux-MérignacBOD | 12 km | 20 to 35 min | 35 to 60 min | Everything into the southwest, and close to the city |
| Biarritz Pays BasqueBIQ | 185 km | 1h 50 to 2h 15 | 2h 10 to 3h | The Basque coast and the Landes |
| Toulouse-BlagnacTLS | 245 km | 2h 20 to 2h 50 | 2h 40 to 3h 30 | Additional routes and the Midi |
| La RochelleLRH | 180 km | 1h 50 to 2h 15 | 2h 5 to 2h 50 | The Atlantic coast north |
| Poitiers-BiardPIS | 230 km | 2h 15 to 2h 40 | 2h 30 to 3h 15 | The Vienne and the northern approach |
Drive times are door to door from the arrivals kerb, not gate to gate, and they assume a direct private vehicle rather than a shared shuttle. Peak means roughly 07:00 to 10:00 and 15:30 to 19:30 on a weekday.
Bordeaux is the second market in our network, after Napa, where the airport transfer is the smaller half of the business. What people book here is a day, and the reason is not comfort.
A day in the vineyards means four or five properties across sixty kilometres, and every one of them involves wine. That is the entire commercial logic. French drink-driving limits are low, enforcement on the D2 and around Saint-Émilion in season is active, and the consequences of getting it wrong in a foreign country are severe. The chauffeur is the reason the whole party can taste rather than one person spending the day abstaining and calculating.
So almost everything here is booked hourly rather than as a transfer, typically six to eight hours, with the vehicle staying with you all day. That last point matters more than it sounds: a serious day generates cases, and a saloon that comfortably held four people in the morning does not hold four people and six cases by five in the afternoon. Tell us if you intend to buy.
Access is the thing visitors underestimate. The classified châteaux of the Médoc and the leading Saint-Émilion properties are working estates, not visitor attractions, and most require appointments arranged well in advance. Some do not receive the public at all. We do not make those bookings for you, but the day is built backwards from the appointments you have confirmed, so send the times when you book the vehicle. During harvest, roughly September into October, properties close to visitors and vehicles are scarce simultaneously.
The rocade, Bordeaux's ring road, carries almost every journey between the airport, the city and the vineyards and it congests badly at peak. There is a low emission zone in the city on the Crit'Air system and our operators run certified vehicles. Arcachon is the other major draw, an hour west, and on summer weekends the road to the bay is genuinely slow.
Details above were checked against public sources at the time of writing. Rates, terminal assignments and construction timelines in this section change faster than any website updates, so treat your chauffeur's message on the day as the authority.
Published transfer times are usually the best case. These are ranges, and the upper end happens often enough to plan around.
| Route | Off-peak | Weekday peak | What moves it |
|---|---|---|---|
| BOD to central Bordeaux | 20 to 35 min | 35 to 60 min | The A630 rocade east, and the rocade is the variable |
| BOD to the Chartrons | 25 to 35 min | 40 to 65 min | The old wine merchant quarter along the river |
| BOD to Saint-Émilion | 50 to 65 min | 1h 5 to 1h 35 | East on the A89, and the right bank appellations |
| BOD to Pauillac and the Médoc | 1h to 1h 20 | 1h 15 to 1h 45 | North up the D2 route des châteaux |
| BOD to Arcachon and the Dune du Pilat | 50 to 65 min | 1h 10 to 1h 50 | West to the bay, and summer weekends are much worse |
| BOD to Pessac-Léognan | 20 to 30 min | 30 to 50 min | The nearest appellation, minutes from the airport |
Each route above has its own page with pricing by vehicle class, the roads actually used and the times worth avoiding.
Intercity runs are priced as one fixed fare for the whole journey, not per hour, so the traffic is our problem rather than yours.

|---|---|---|---|
| Saint-Émilion | 40 km | 50 to 65 min | The right bank, and appointment only at most properties |

| Arcachon and Cap Ferret | 60 km | 50 to 65 min | The bay, the oysters and the dune |
| Cognac | 120 km | 1h 20 to 1h 45 | North, and the houses take appointments |
| Biarritz and the Basque coast | 185 km | 1h 50 to 2h 15 | South down the A63, tolled |

Embarkation day luggage runs heavier than air travel for the same trip length, because there is no airline weight limit pushing back. Size one class above your instinct and read the guidance on Bordeaux cruise transfers before you book.
The chauffeur meeting you is dispatched by an operator based here, not routed in from another market.
The capacity below is the honest number, not the manufacturer maximum. Carrying full-size cases, take the next class up.

No meter, no surge multiplier, and no line item that appears after the ride is over.
Tram line A runs from the airport into the city and Bordeaux itself is compact, flat and extremely walkable, with a tram network that covers it well. If you are staying in the centre and visiting one or two properties reachable by train, such as Saint-Émilion, you do not need a vehicle for the week and we would not suggest otherwise.
Hourly hire earns its price the moment the day involves more than two properties, more than two people, the Médoc where public transport effectively does not reach, or any intention of actually drinking what you are tasting. It is also the right call for anyone buying seriously, because the cases have to travel somewhere.
The full cost and time comparison against the meter is on Bordeaux taxi versus chauffeur.
The terminal assignment, the pickup zone that moved last month, the parking permit for that garage. None of it reaches you.
Pickup, drop-off, date and time. Add a flight number and we track the aircraft rather than the schedule.
Six classes with honest capacity figures and one all-in price each. No estimate, no range, no surge.

It depends far more on your destination than on distance. Bordeaux-Mérignac (BOD), Toulouse-Blagnac (TLS) are the main options, and the drive times differ enough that the cheapest ticket is often not the cheapest arrival. The table above sets out distance and typical drive time for each, and every airport has its own page with terminal detail and pickup arrangements.
In the designated pre-arranged pickup area for your terminal, with the chauffeur calling as you reach the doors. Pickup zones at BOD change during construction and reorganisation, so the operator confirms the current meeting point on the morning of your flight rather than relying on anything printed in advance. Being met inside arrivals on your name is a paid add-on.
Between 20 to 35 min off-peak and 35 to 60 min in weekday peak traffic, door to door from the arrivals kerb. Published figures shorter than that usually describe a quiet Sunday morning. Each route from the airport has its own page with the roads used and the times worth avoiding.
Yes. Autoroute tolls, airport fees and VAT are inside the price quoted at booking. France's low emission zones work differently from a charge: they are policed by the Crit'Air windscreen certificate, which classes a vehicle by emissions, and there is nothing to pay. A vehicle either carries the right class or it should not enter the zone. Our operators run certified vehicles, so compliance never reaches you.
Yes. A chauffeur in France operates as a VTC, a voiture de transport avec chauffeur, on the national register, and every vehicle is run by an operator whose registration and insurance are verified before they can take a booking. A VTC must be pre-booked and may not accept a street hail or wait on a taxi rank. That is a matter of law rather than preference, and it is why your chauffeur meets you at an agreed point rather than in the taxi queue.
Sixty minutes of free waiting from the actual landing time, tracked against the aircraft rather than the schedule, which covers immigration, baggage and customs. Every other pickup includes 15 minutes. Beyond the free window, waiting is billed in 15-minute increments at the vehicle class rate and you are told before it starts.
At least 3 hours before pickup so the operator can assign and brief a chauffeur, though RYDES takes reservations up to a year out. For group vehicles and for the busy weeks noted above, book as early as you can, because availability runs out long before price becomes the problem.
Add your flight number and we track the aircraft. A delay moves your pickup automatically and costs nothing, with free waiting starting at the actual landing time. A diversion is handled by dispatch, who will re-brief a chauffeur to the new field where the operator has coverage. Dispatch answers around the clock on +1 888 881 7933.
Yes, with a two-hour minimum in 30-minute increments. The chauffeur waits between stops and nothing runs while you are inside a meeting. Once a day involves three or more stops, hourly hire is usually cheaper than separate transfers once you count the waiting you would have done anyway.
As hourly hire rather than a series of transfers, with a six hour minimum in most cases. You give us your confirmed appointments and the day is planned backwards from them, including the drive between properties and lunch. The same vehicle and chauffeur stay with you throughout, your purchases stay in the car, and nothing runs while you are inside a tasting. Most days run six to eight hours across the Médoc or the right bank, rarely both.
At the leading properties, almost certainly yes. The classified growths of the Médoc and the top Saint-Émilion estates are working wineries rather than visitor attractions, most require appointments arranged well ahead, and some do not receive the public at all. We do not book them for you, but send us the confirmed times and the day is built around them. During harvest in September and October many properties close to visitors entirely.
Yes, and it is worth telling us at booking rather than discovering it at the fourth property. A serious tasting day generates cases, and a saloon that held four passengers and their coats in the morning will not hold four passengers and six cases by the afternoon. If you intend to buy, we size the vehicle for the day you are actually going to have.
