What is a Calgary chauffeur service?

A Calgary chauffeur service is private, pre-booked transport at a price fixed before the ride, run by a limousine operator licensed by The City of Calgary's Livery Transport Services under the Livery Transport Bylaw 20M2021 and authorized by the airport to work commercially at YYC. You cannot flag one down and it is not sent on demand. The car, the chauffeur and the fare are confirmed in advance, whether you need a YYC airport transfer, an hourly car service in Calgary or a black car to a downtown meeting.

Calgary is an easy city to drive until it is not. A Chinook can turn snow to slush by lunchtime and back to ice by evening, Stampede week fills every road near the river, and ride-hailing prices react to all of it. A reserved Calgary car service booking does not move. Alberta charges only the 5 percent GST, with no provincial sales tax, and there are no toll roads in the province, so the quote is short: the fare, the GST and the airport fee, added together before you confirm.

The same booking reaches well beyond the city limits. Springbank airport transfers for private flights west of town, Calgary airport to Banff for skiers and conference guests, and runs to Airdrie, Okotoks and Cochrane. When a metered cab is the alternative you are weighing, the Calgary taxi alternative page sets the two side by side, and companies moving staff through the city every week can put it all on corporate travel in Calgary with one invoice. Longer runs such as Calgary to Lake Louise are priced the same way.

The airports that serve Calgary.

One international airport northeast of downtown handles almost every passenger. A second, west of the city, is the quiet option for private aircraft heading to the mountains.

Times run door to door in a private vehicle and do not allow for shared shuttles stopping at other hotels. Peak means weekday commuter hours. Stampede week, Flames home nights, the first heavy snow of the season and Friday afternoons heading west to the mountains each deserve their own allowance on top of the peak column. Springbank times depend heavily on where in the city you start, so they are quoted to the address.

Where your chauffeur meets you.

YYC publishes doors for taxis and on-demand cars but leaves the meeting point for pre-booked limousines to the company you booked. That is why the message before you land matters here.

Calgary International.

YYC has two terminals joined airside. The Domestic Terminal holds concourses A, B and C; the International Terminal holds D and E, with E handling flights to the United States and its US preclearance facility. Departures are on the upper level and arrivals on the lower, so a pickup always happens downstairs once you have your bags.

On the arrivals level, taxis load at Doors 1, 9 and 15 and on-demand airport sedans at Doors 2, 11 and 15. A pre-arranged limousine is a different arrangement: YYC does not name a fixed spot for it, and the pickup point is set between you and the company. Your chauffeur confirms the exact door in the message sent before you land, and the car is positioned there rather than circling. Drive timing for the city centre is on YYC to downtown Calgary.

  • Kerbside pickup, the free defaultYour chauffeur names the door in advance and brings the car to it as you come out of baggage claim.
  • Meet and greet, a paid add-onChauffeur waiting inside arrivals with your name, useful after an overseas flight and Canadian customs in the International Terminal.
  • Domestic or InternationalConcourses A to C are domestic; D and E are international, with E for US flights. Your boarding pass tells you which you are landing at.

Private aviation at YYC.

Four fixed-base operators handle business aircraft at Calgary International: Skyservice, which runs around the clock and handles CANPASS arrivals, Sunwest Aviation at the Shell AeroCentre, Million Air and Signature. Your chauffeur collects at the FBO you are using rather than at the passenger terminal, which avoids the arrivals roadway entirely.

Tell us the FBO and the tail number or flight details when you book. If the aircraft lands early or late, the pickup follows the actual arrival, and the 60 minutes of free waiting starts from touchdown in the same way it does for a scheduled flight.

Springbank.

Springbank sits about 15 km west of Calgary and is an airport of entry, so international private flights can clear customs there. Ground handling is through the Calgary Flying Club and Springbank Aero Services. It carries no scheduled airline traffic, which keeps the apron calm and the walk from aircraft to car short.

Its real advantage is position. Landing west of the city means the drive to Canmore and Banff skips the city altogether, which is why mountain-bound private travellers often choose it over YYC. Coming into town instead, the fare is quoted to your exact address.

Terminal and door details above were checked against public sources in October 2026. Doors and concourses get reassigned, so treat your boarding pass and your chauffeur's pre-arrival message as the final word on where to walk.

No tolls, one tax, and the airport fee.

Calgary keeps the arithmetic simple. Alberta has no toll roads, no congestion charge and no provincial sales tax, which leaves the federal GST and whatever the airport levies on commercial pickups.

Every fare in Alberta carries 5 percent GST and nothing else in the way of sales tax. YYC charges commercial ground transport for the right to collect at the terminal: on-demand airport sedans pay C$11 per pickup and taxis C$5.10 per pickup plus GST, and any commercial operator working the airport needs its authorization first. On a RYDES booking, the GST and the airport charge sit inside the single number you see before confirming.

Because there are no tolls anywhere on the road network, the drive to Banff, Lake Louise or Edmonton adds nothing beyond distance and time. The one cost that can sit outside the quote is paid parking, if you ask the chauffeur to wait somewhere that charges for it. A Parks Canada pass for stopping in Banff National Park is also separate, because it is bought per person by the passengers themselves.

Routing is still a judgement call even without tolls. A chauffeur heading for Stampede Park in July or downtown at five on a weekday picks the approach that is moving, and none of that changes what you agreed to pay. The full comparison with a metered fare is on Calgary taxi versus chauffeur.

Drive times you can plan around.

YYC is close to the city by the standards of most large airports. What stretches a Calgary run is snow, the commuter peak and the summer crowds, not distance. These are ranges, and the slower end is common enough to book around.

Calgary winters change the numbers in both directions. A Chinook can clear the roads in an afternoon, and a cold snap or a dump of snow can add half again to any of these times. For a flight you cannot miss between November and March, or a ski-day departure to the mountains, build in a margin of about half the off-peak time.

Out to the mountains and beyond.

Each intercity run is one fixed fare for the whole trip, not a meter running in mountain traffic. Alberta has no tolls, so the price is the distance, the vehicle and the GST.

Any stop inside Banff National Park requires a Parks Canada pass for each passenger. It is not part of our fare and is bought by the passengers, while driving straight through the park without stopping does not need one. The road to Moraine Lake is closed to private and chauffeured vehicles, so we can take you to Lake Louise but not up that road. Jasper runs use the Icefields Parkway, where winter conditions call for caution, and are confirmed by dispatch with an SUV in winter. More on the park is on the Banff chauffeur service page.

Larger group vehicles are regulated differently. Alberta requires a Safety Fitness Certificate for vehicles designed for 11 or more people including the driver, and at YYC commercial group vehicles stage in dedicated bus bays with a PIN or transponder, so Group bookings are confirmed by dispatch. For winter mountain trips, an SUV is the class we suggest. Capacity and luggage for every class are on the vehicle classes page, and stretch vehicles are covered by Calgary limo service.

What a Calgary fare covers.

The number on the confirmation is the number on the receipt. Nothing is added once you are out of the car.

GST and the airport fee
The 5 percent GST and the charge YYC levies on commercial pickups are both counted in the Canadian-dollar quote. Alberta has no provincial sales tax and no toll roads, so there is nothing else to add.
Free cancellation
Cancel or change for free until 24 hours before pickup. Within 24 hours the booking is charged in full, because a chauffeur and vehicle have been held for you.
Flight tracking
Add the flight number and we follow the aircraft. If it arrives early or runs late, the pickup time shifts with it and nothing extra is charged.
An hour at the airport
Sixty minutes free from the real touchdown time at YYC or Springbank, enough for customs and the carousel. Other pickups include 15 minutes free, then 15-minute increments at the class rate, with notice before any of it is charged.
Kerbside pickup
The car comes to the door your chauffeur names before you land, at no charge. A meet and greet inside the terminal with a name board is available as a paid extra.
Gratuity, if you want to
The chauffeur's pay for the run was agreed before they accepted it. A tip is offered once when you pay, and leaving none is entirely fine.
A City-licensed operator
Each vehicle is run by a limousine operator licensed by The City of Calgary under the Livery Transport Bylaw, with vehicles inspected every 12 months and no older than 10 model years, and drivers through the livery training programme.
Child seats and pets
Child seats can be added for a fee; we supply them and the parent fits them. Pets travel as a paid extra, and service animals ride free every time.
Not in the price
Paid parking where you ask the car to wait, and Parks Canada passes for stopping in Banff National Park, which passengers buy themselves.

When you should not book us.

Some Calgary trips are better done another way, and two of them come up often enough to say so plainly.

If you are one person with a carry-on heading downtown, Calgary Transit Route 300 runs from the airport to the City Centre as a bus rapid transit service for the standard C$4.00 adult fare. It will not be as quick or as direct as a car to your door, but on price nothing comes close. The Blue Line LRT does not reach the airport, and the extension that would is not expected to start construction before about 2028, so the bus is the transit option for now.

Heading to the mountains alone, the Banff Airporter runs from YYC to Banff for C$88.90 one way per adult, and Brewster Express covers the same corridor. For one traveller that is hard to beat. For two or more people, ski bags, a lodge outside town, children, or a late arrival after the shuttle timetable ends, a private car usually makes more sense, and the gap narrows with every extra seat. The full comparison is on Calgary taxi versus chauffeur.

Calgary questions.

If yours is not here, dispatch answers around the clock at +1 888 881 7933 or support@rydes.co.

Where does my chauffeur meet me at Calgary airport?

On the arrivals level, which is the lower level at YYC. The airport does not publish a single meeting point for pre-arranged limousines, so your chauffeur confirms the exact door in the message sent before you land and has the car there when you come out. Taxis use Doors 1, 9 and 15 and on-demand sedans Doors 2, 11 and 15, which are separate from a pre-booked pickup. Meet and greet inside arrivals is a paid add-on. See YYC airport transfers.

Which YYC terminal will I arrive at?

Calgary International has a Domestic Terminal with concourses A, B and C and an International Terminal with concourses D and E. Concourse E handles flights to the United States and has US preclearance for departing passengers. The two terminals are connected airside. Check your boarding pass to see which concourse your flight uses.

How long is the drive from YYC to downtown Calgary?

Usually 15 to 25 minutes off-peak and 30 to 45 minutes in weekday rush hour, over roughly 18 to 20 km. The Beltline, Mount Royal, Kensington and Stampede Park take 20 to 30 minutes off-peak and 35 to 50 at peak. Heavy snow and Stampede week add more. See YYC to downtown Calgary.

Are taxes and airport fees included in the price?

Yes. The 5 percent GST and the fee YYC charges for commercial pickups are both inside the price quoted at booking, in Canadian dollars. Alberta has no provincial sales tax and no toll roads. Paid parking, if you ask the car to wait somewhere that charges, is the only thing outside the quote. Compare it with a metered cab on Calgary taxi alternative.

Are there tolls or a congestion charge in Calgary?

No. Alberta has no toll roads and Calgary has no congestion charge, so nothing is added for the route your chauffeur takes, including the drive to Banff, Lake Louise or Edmonton.

Are your Calgary chauffeurs licensed?

Yes. Every vehicle is run by a limousine operator licensed by The City of Calgary's Livery Transport Services under the Livery Transport Bylaw 20M2021, which requires the livery driver training programme, an inspection every 12 months and vehicles no more than 10 model years old. Operators also hold the authorization YYC requires for commercial ground transport. Licensing and insurance are checked before an operator can accept bookings.

Can you pick me up from Springbank Airport?

Yes. Springbank (YBW) is about 15 km west of Calgary and is an airport of entry with customs, used for private aviation. Your chauffeur meets you at the Calgary Flying Club or Springbank Aero Services, whichever handles your aircraft. Its western position makes it a good arrival point for Canmore and Banff. See Springbank airport transfers.

Do you collect from private jet terminals at YYC?

Yes. Skyservice, which operates around the clock and handles CANPASS arrivals, Sunwest Aviation at the Shell AeroCentre, Million Air and Signature all serve business aircraft at YYC. Give us the FBO name and the flight details at booking and the chauffeur waits at that terminal's door instead of the main arrivals level.

How long does it take to get from Calgary airport to Banff?

About 90 minutes for the roughly 130 km from YYC, and longer on ski-season weekends or in poor winter conditions. Canmore is about an hour, and Lake Louise about 2 hours 15 minutes from the airport. Each is priced as one fixed fare. See Calgary airport to Banff, Calgary airport to Canmore and Calgary airport to Lake Louise.

Do I need a park pass to be driven to Banff?

If you stop anywhere inside Banff National Park, each passenger needs a Parks Canada pass. It is not included in our fare and passengers buy it themselves. Driving straight through the park without stopping does not need one. More detail is on the Banff city page.

Can you drive me to Moraine Lake?

No. The Moraine Lake road is closed to private and chauffeured vehicles, so a chauffeured car cannot take you up it. We can take you to Lake Louise and anywhere else in the Bow Valley that private vehicles are allowed to reach. See Calgary to Lake Louise.

Can you drive me from Calgary to Edmonton?

Yes. Edmonton is about 300 km north on Highway 2, the QEII, and takes about 3 hours. It is priced as one fixed fare door to door, with no tolls on the way, which suits travellers with luggage or a group who would otherwise split a flight and two airport transfers. See Calgary to Edmonton.

Is the Route 300 bus a better option than a chauffeur?

Sometimes. For one person with a carry-on going downtown, Calgary Transit Route 300 runs from the airport to the City Centre for the C$4.00 adult fare, and nothing beats that on price. The Blue Line LRT does not reach the airport. A chauffeur makes more sense with luggage, a group, children, a late arrival or a destination away from the bus route.

When should I book ahead for the Calgary Stampede?

As early as you can. The 2026 Stampede runs from 3 to 12 July, and it falls in early July every year, when hotels, roads around Stampede Park and every kind of car are in high demand. Bookings open up to a year ahead and must be made at least 3 hours before pickup. See Calgary Stampede transportation and YYC to Stampede Park.

Can I hire a car by the hour in Calgary?

Yes. Hourly bookings have a two-hour minimum and continue in 30-minute increments, with the chauffeur waiting between stops and nothing extra while you are inside. It suits site visits, roadshows and wedding days. Paid parking at a stop is the one cost outside the quote. See hourly chauffeur in Calgary.

What happens if my flight into YYC is delayed?

Nothing changes on your side. Add the flight number when you book and we track it; the pickup moves to the actual landing time and the 60 minutes of free waiting begins only then. If the flight diverts, dispatch re-briefs the chauffeur. Dispatch answers at any hour on +1 888 881 7933.
