Milan airport transfersMilan, Lombardy
Chauffeur service across Milan and Lombardy, carried out by licensed NCC operators. The 10 percent IVA, any autostrada toll and the Area C charge are already inside the euro figure you see at booking.
Fair days, show weeks and a lake weekend all need a different kind of car day. The price works the same way for each.
Malpensa, Linate and Bergamo Orio al Serio. The flight is tracked from take-off and the first 60 minutes after it actually lands cost nothing.
Milan airport transfersA car held between showrooms in Fashion Week, client visits in Porta Nuova and a dinner in Brera. Two-hour minimum in 30-minute steps, and the chauffeur stays with the car while you are inside. Teams use the same booking for corporate travel in Milan and Fiera Milano Rho trade days.
Hourly chauffeur in MilanComo, Bellagio, Stresa, Turin and across the border to Lugano or St Moritz, door to door at one fare for the whole run.
Intercity rides from MilanA pre-booked black car in Milan for board meetings, press days and late finishes, with the class agreed at booking rather than whatever happens to be free. For weddings and formal evenings, see limo service in Milan.
Milan black car serviceA Milan chauffeur service is a car and driver reserved in advance at a fixed price, carried out by an NCC operator, noleggio con conducente, licensed by an Italian comune under Legge 21/1992, the national law for non-scheduled road passenger transport. Unlike a taxi it cannot be flagged down or picked up from a rank. Everything is agreed before the day: the vehicle class, the pickup point and the final euro figure, whether the job is a Malpensa airport transfer, an hourly car service around the centre or a black car to a meeting in CityLife.
The fixed price matters more here than in most cities, because Milan's costs are hidden in different places. The Regione Lombardia fixed taxi fare from Malpensa is €114 to anywhere in Milan, but from Linate a taxi runs on the meter. NCC cars, unlike taxis, pay the Area C congestion charge when they enter the centre in the day. A Milan car service booking through RYDES folds all of it into one number: the 10 percent IVA, any autostrada toll and, where the route enters Area C, the charge itself. For a side-by-side with a metered ride, see the Milan taxi alternative.
The same reservation covers the rest of the region. Linate transfers for the short hop into town, Bergamo airport transfers for low-cost flights, Fiera Milano Rho on a trade-fair morning, Monza on Grand Prix weekend and Lake Como when the week ends, with corporate travel in Milan adding central billing and the main airport routes timed below.
Malpensa handled 31.2 million passengers in 2025, Linate 11.1 million and Bergamo about 16.8 million. They sit in three very different places, and the right one depends on where you are staying.
| Airport | Distance to the Duomo | Typical drive, off-peak | Typical drive, peak | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Milan Malpensa, Terminal 1MXP, north-west of the city | About 51 km | 50 to 65 minutes | 70 to 95 minutes | Long-haul and most international flights, Fiera Milano Rho, Lake Maggiore and the west side of Lake Como |
| Milan Malpensa, Terminal 2MXP, the second terminal | About 51 km | 50 to 65 minutes | 70 to 95 minutes | Flights that use Terminal 2; check your booking, then the same roads into town as Terminal 1 |
| Milan LinateLIN, east edge of the city | About 8 km | 15 to 25 minutes | 25 to 45 minutes | Domestic and short European flights when the destination is central Milan |
| Bergamo Orio al SerioBGY, Bergamo | Further out, east on the A4 | Timed for your address at booking | Timed for your address at booking | Low-cost European fares, Bergamo itself and the east side of Lombardy |
Drive times are door to door from the pickup point in a direct private car, not a shared shuttle. Peak means roughly 07:30 to 09:30 and 17:00 to 19:30 on a weekday; fair days at Rho, Fashion Week and match nights at San Siro behave like their own category.
Malpensa is the one airport here with written rules for chauffeur cars, and those rules differ between its two terminals. Linate and Bergamo are smaller, and your chauffeur names the point.
At Malpensa Terminal 1 the arrivals road is a 15-minute area timed by cameras, so cars do not idle there. Licensed chauffeur cars use a dedicated chauffeur spot instead. Access is by prepaid card or Telepass, the rates are posted, and every car parked there shows a licence badge on the rear with its licence number and the comune that issued it.
Your chauffeur usually meets you near Exit 8 if you arrive from outside the Schengen area, and near Exit 3 for Schengen arrivals. Timing for the run into town is on Malpensa to central Milan.
Terminal 2 has a single arrivals exit, which makes the meeting simple: your chauffeur is usually there. Cars use the short-stay areas outside, where a meter runs for up to one hour. Between the two terminals there is also a free 60-minute waiting area where the driver stays with the car, and operators often hold the car there until your flight is on the ground.
What those areas charge is the operator's cost, not a line on your bill. If your hotel is at the Fiera, see Malpensa to Fiera Milano Rho.
Linate is a single compact terminal on the eastern edge of the city. We have not confirmed published pickup rules for NCC cars there, so we do not print a door number: your chauffeur names the exact meeting point in the message that arrives before you land, and that is where to walk.
Bergamo works the same way. It is the low-cost carriers' airport for Lombardy and sits well east of Milan, so the transfer matters more here than at Linate. The taxi benchmark is the Regione Lombardia fixed fare of €128 to Milan, which is the number to weigh against Bergamo to central Milan.
Malpensa's pickup arrangements were checked in October 2026, and the exit numbers come from operators rather than the airport, which is why they read as usual rather than fixed. Your boarding pass tells you the terminal, and your chauffeur's message is the authority on where to walk.
Milan has a congestion charge, a low-emission zone and a set of fixed airport taxi fares. Each one lands on a passenger differently depending on how you travel.
Area C covers the historic centre and is enforced by cameras from 07:30 to 19:30. The daily charge is €7.50. Taxis are exempt, but NCC chauffeur cars are not, so a chauffeur run to a hotel near the Duomo or a meeting in Brera in the daytime pays it. Where the route enters Area C, the charge is inside the price you were quoted. Separately, from 1 October 2026 Euro 5 diesel cars are banned across the wider urban area on weekdays from 07:30 to 19:30; the cars our operators use meet the rules, so that ban does not affect a booking. Brera and the Quadrilatero include streets closed to most traffic: dispatch confirms ZTL access for your address; if the car cannot enter, the drop-off is at the nearest permitted point.
Every NCC fare in Italy carries the reduced 10 percent IVA, and that is inside every RYDES price. Autostrada tolls work the same way: the A4 from Milan to Turin is about €18.10, the A9 to Como about €4.10 and Milano Est to Venezia Mestre €22.30 in 2026, and when the route uses one, the toll is already counted.
| RYDES chauffeur | Taxi from the rank | Malpensa Express or M4 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| When the price is set | At booking, then fixed | Fixed fare from the airports listed; otherwise the meter | At the ticket machine, per person |
| Malpensa to central Milan | Quoted by vehicle class before you fly | €114 fixed to anywhere in Milan | €15 per person on the Malpensa Express |
| Linate to central Milan | Quoted by vehicle class before you fly | Meter, with a €16 minimum | €2.20 per person on the M4 |
| Area C charge in the day | Inside the quoted price when the route enters it | Exempt | Not applicable |
| Autostrada tolls | Inside the quoted price | Inside the fixed fares | Not applicable |
| Waiting for a delayed flight | 60 minutes free from landing | You join the queue when you land | You take the next departure |
| Vehicle you get | The class you booked | The next car in the rank | A seat, if there is one |
| Gratuity | Optional, offered once at payment | At your discretion | Not applicable |
The taxi fixed fares are the honest benchmark, and we would rather show them than hide them. From Malpensa a fixed-price chauffeur is in the same range as the €114 taxi, so the case for booking is a known car, a known meeting point and room for luggage and groups rather than a lower fare. Malpensa to Linate by taxi is €128, Malpensa to Fiera Rho €94 and Linate to Fiera Rho €68. The full comparison is on Milan taxi versus chauffeur.
Malpensa is a long way out and Linate is almost in town, and that difference is the biggest single factor in planning a Milan arrival. These are realistic ranges built up from free-flow road times.
| Route | Off-peak | Weekday peak | What moves it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Malpensa to the Duomo | 50 to 65 min | 70 to 95 min | About 51 km; the last few kilometres into the centre are the slow part |
| Malpensa to CityLife | 40 to 55 min | 55 to 80 min | About 46 km, the shortest of the central runs from the west |
| Malpensa to Fiera Milano Rho | 35 to 45 min | 50 to 75 min | About 39 km, but the fair's own traffic decides it on opening mornings |
| Linate to the Duomo | 15 to 25 min | 25 to 45 min | About 8 km across the east side; Area C applies inside the old walls in the day |
| Linate to Brera | 15 to 25 min | 25 to 40 min | About 9 km; ZTL access to the street is confirmed by dispatch |
| Linate to Fiera Milano Rho | 30 to 40 min | 45 to 70 min | About 20 km on the ring roads; the €68 taxi fixed fare is the benchmark |
| Linate to the Monza circuit | 30 to 45 min | 45 to 70 min | About 24 km; race weekend has its own access plan |
| Malpensa to Como | 50 to 65 min | 65 to 90 min | About 50 km across the north of the province |
| Malpensa to Lugano | 65 to 80 min | 80 to 110 min | About 66 km, plus whatever the border crossing adds |
Fair mornings move these figures more than rush hour. On the opening day of the Salone del Mobile or EICMA the roads to Rho fill early, and on Grand Prix weekend Monza runs its own traffic plan. For a flight you cannot miss on those days, start from the peak column and add a margin.
Intercity runs are quoted as one fare for the whole journey, not by the clock, so a queue at the Como toll or a slow lakeside road is absorbed by the operator.
| Destination | Distance | Typical drive | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Como | About 54 km | 1 h to 1 h 20 | The A9, about €4.10 in tolls; more in Como |
| Cernobbio and Villa d'Este | About 62 km | 1 h to 1 h 25 | Just past Como on the west shore of the lake |
| Bellagio | About 75 km | 1 h 20 to 1 h 50 | The last stretch is slow lakeside road, whichever shore you take |
| Stresa, Lake Maggiore | About 97 km | 1 h 25 to 1 h 50 | Closer from Malpensa than from the city; see the second table |
| Lugano, Switzerland | About 84 km | 1 h 20 to 1 h 45, plus the border | Cross-border; a licensed operator for the Swiss side is confirmed at booking |
| Turin | About 150 km | 2 h to 2 h 40 | The A4, about €18.10 in tolls; the train is faster, see below. More in Turin |
| Verona | About 162 km | 1 h 55 to 2 h 30 | The A4 east, past Bergamo and Brescia |
| St Moritz, Switzerland | About 172 km | 3 h to 3 h 45, plus the border | Mountain roads at the end; SUV class in winter, cross-border operator confirmed at booking |
| From Malpensa to | Distance | Typical drive | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Como | About 50 km | 50 min to 1 h 10 | No need to go into Milan first |
| Bellagio | About 81 km | 1 h 25 to 1 h 55 | Slower than the distance suggests |
| Stresa | About 51 km | 50 min to 1 h 10 | Lake Maggiore is Malpensa's nearest lake |
| Lugano | About 66 km | 1 h 05 to 1 h 30, plus the border | Cross-border operator confirmed at booking |
| St Moritz | About 188 km | 3 h 15 to 4 h, plus the border | Plan around daylight in winter |
| Turin | About 137 km | 1 h 40 to 2 h 15 | Skips Milan entirely |
For Lugano and St Moritz, the car has to be run by an operator allowed to carry passengers on both sides of the border, so a licensed operator for the other side of the border is confirmed at booking rather than sold automatically. Every passenger needs a passport or national identity card.
The city, the fair district at Rho, Monza, the three airports and the lakes to the north. The chauffeur is dispatched by a licensed NCC operator, and runs into Switzerland are confirmed separately.
Passenger numbers are what fits in comfort. With a full-size case each, go one class up.
| Class | Typical vehicles | Passengers | Luggage | In Milan, best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| StandardComfortable everyday sedan | Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata | 3 | 2 medium | Linate runs and short hops inside the city for one person with light bags |
| BusinessThe everyday standard | Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series, Cadillac CT6 | 3 | 2 large, 1 small | Malpensa arrivals and meetings in Porta Nuova or CityLife for one or two people |
| FirstFlagship sedans | Mercedes S-Class, BMW 7 Series, Audi A8 | 3 | 2 large, 1 small | Client pickups, Fashion Week appointments and the lake hotels where the arrival is part of the stay |
| SUVRoom for luggage | Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon | 5 | 5 large | Families with checked bags from Malpensa, and St Moritz or the mountain roads in winter |
| VanA seat and a case each | Mercedes V-Class, Mercedes Vito, Ford Transit | 7 | 7 large | Groups of up to seven with luggage, Lake Como weekends and trade-fair teams at Rho |
| GroupUp to sixteen | Mercedes Sprinter, executive minibus | up to 16 | By arrangement | Exhibitor teams, wedding guests on the lake and event movements in one vehicle |
For a group heading to Bellagio or a lake hotel, one Van is usually simpler than two cars. Full capacity and luggage detail is on the vehicle classes page. For formal occasions and stretch vehicles, see limo service in Milan.
One figure in euros, settled at booking. No meter running, no surge and no line added once you are out of the car.
Milan has good public transport to two of its three airports, and between cities the high-speed train often wins outright.
From Linate, the M4 metro line is hard to beat for one person: about 12 minutes to San Babila on a €2.20 ticket. From Malpensa, the Malpensa Express costs €15 since August 2025 and takes about 43 minutes from Terminal 2 to Cadorna, or about 57 minutes to Centrale. To Turin, the fastest Frecciarossa takes about 1 hour 2 to 1 hour 5 minutes, against two hours or more by road, and Milan to Bologna by the fastest train is about 55 minutes. Alone with a cabin bag and going station to station, take the train.
From Malpensa, a chauffeur at a fixed price competes with the €114 taxi and wins with luggage, with three or four people sharing, with children, after a late arrival, or for a destination the train does not serve, such as a lake hotel, the Fiera on an opening morning or a day of meetings across the city. That covers most of why people book, but not every trip, and we would rather say so. The full cost and time comparison is on Milan taxi versus chauffeur.

It depends on where you are going. Malpensa takes most long-haul flights and suits Fiera Milano Rho, Lake Maggiore and the west side of Lake Como, but it is about 51 km from the Duomo. Linate is about 8 km from the centre and is the quickest arrival for central Milan. Bergamo Orio al Serio serves many low-cost European flights and is further east. Compare Malpensa to central Milan with Linate to central Milan.
Usually near Exit 8 for arrivals from outside the Schengen area and near Exit 3 for Schengen arrivals, then a short walk to the dedicated chauffeur spot where licensed cars park. The exact point is in the message your chauffeur sends before you land. Meet and greet inside arrivals is a paid add-on. See Malpensa airport transfer.
At the single arrivals exit, usually. The car waits in the short-stay area outside or in the free 60-minute area between the terminals, and what the operator pays there is inside the price.
Licensed chauffeur cars at the Terminal 1 chauffeur spot show a licence badge on the rear with the licence number and the comune that issued it. Every RYDES car in Milan is run by an NCC operator authorised under Legge 21/1992, and the plate is in the message you receive three hours before pickup.
The Regione Lombardia fixed taxi fare from Malpensa to anywhere in Milan is €114, reconfirmed in August 2026. Malpensa to Fiera Rho is €94 and Malpensa to Linate €128. From Linate to the city there is no fixed taxi fare: the meter runs, with a €16 minimum. A RYDES chauffeur is quoted by vehicle class at a fixed price in the Malpensa taxi range, with 60 minutes of free waiting and the class you chose. See Milan taxi alternative.
Not separately. Area C runs from 07:30 to 19:30 and costs €7.50 a day. Taxis are exempt but NCC chauffeur cars are not, so where the route enters Area C, the charge is inside the price RYDES quotes.
Yes. The 10 percent IVA on NCC passenger transport and every autostrada toll on the route, such as about €18.10 on the A4 to Turin or about €4.10 on the A9 to Como, are inside the quoted euro price. The exceptions are paid parking you ask for and the tourist tax your hotel charges.
No. The imposta di soggiorno is charged by your accommodation, not by the car. In Milan for 2026 it is €10 per person per night at 4-star and 5-star hotels, €7.40 at 3-star and €9.50 for short lets and B&Bs.
Yes. Each car is run by an NCC operator, noleggio con conducente, authorised by a comune under Legge 21/1992, the national framework law amended in 2018 and 2019. The operator keeps its base and at least one rimessa, or garage, in that comune, with further rimesse allowed in the same province or metropolitan city. Every NCC trip is booked in advance with the operator; NCC cars may not take street hails or wait at taxi ranks except for a passenger who has already booked. RYDES arranges the booking and the licensed operator carries out the journey.
Several times, through the courts. In ruling 56/2020 the Constitutional Court struck down the rule obliging an NCC car to go back to its garage after every job. A 2024 ministerial decree set a 20-minute gap between booking and pickup and banned continuing contracts with platforms and intermediaries; both parts were annulled by TAR Lazio in July 2025 and by Constitutional Court ruling 163/2025. RENT, the national electronic register for taxi and NCC, is being rolled out. Taxi unions have struck over NCC and app rules, including a national taxi strike on 13 January 2026.
Usually 50 to 65 minutes off-peak and 70 to 95 minutes at weekday peak for the roughly 51 km to the Duomo. Linate to the Duomo is 15 to 25 minutes off-peak. Fair mornings at Rho and Fashion Week add time. See Malpensa to central Milan.
Sometimes. The Malpensa Express costs €15, about 43 minutes from Terminal 2 to Cadorna; the M4 runs Linate to San Babila in about 12 minutes for €2.20. Alone with light luggage, take them. A chauffeur earns its price with bags, groups, children or late arrivals.
Yes, priced as one fixed fare to the address you give. Como is about 50 km from Malpensa and about 54 km from Linate, and Bellagio is about 81 km from Malpensa, with a slow lakeside road at the end. The A9 toll is included. See Lake Como, Malpensa to Como and Milan to Bellagio.
Yes, with one extra step. The car must be run by an operator allowed to carry passengers on both sides, so a licensed operator for the other side of the border is confirmed at booking. Lugano is about 66 km from Malpensa; St Moritz is about 188 km. See Malpensa to Lugano and Milan to St Moritz.
Yes. EICMA runs at Fiera Milano Rho with trade days on 3 and 4 November and public days from 5 to 8 November 2026, and the Salone del Mobile runs there from 13 to 18 April 2027. Book early for those weeks, and consider an hourly booking for a full fair day. See Fiera Milano Rho and Malpensa to Fiera Milano Rho.
Yes. The next women's Fashion Week is provisionally 23 February to 1 March 2027, and the Italian Grand Prix at Monza is 3 to 5 September 2027, a Sprint weekend. Both fill operators' diaries months ahead, so book as early as you can; RYDES takes reservations up to a year out, and at least 3 hours before pickup at other times. See Milan Fashion Week and Monza Grand Prix.
Add your flight number and the aircraft is tracked. A delay moves the pickup automatically at no cost, and the 60 free minutes start from the actual landing. If the flight is diverted, dispatch re-briefs the operator for the new airport. Beyond the free hour, waiting is billed in 15-minute increments and you are told before it starts. Milan runs on CET, and clocks go back on 25 October 2026. Dispatch answers around the clock on +1 888 881 7933.
