A Santorini chauffeur service is a private car with a professional driver, booked ahead at a fixed price and carried out by an operator licensed for EIX vehicles, the Greek category of private-use passenger cars with a driver. Under Law 5290/2026 an EIX may only be hired through a written contract registered in the Ministry's digital register before the trip begins, naming the pickup point and the start and end times. RYDES takes the booking, files that contract, and the licensed operator drives, whether the job is a JTR airport transfer, an hourly car service through the wine villages or a black car to a caldera dinner in Oia.
The rule shapes the price as much as the paperwork. A Greek chauffeur transfer is legally a timed hire, so even a short airport run is priced as at least the legal minimum. On Santorini, as on the other Aegean islands, that minimum is 30 minutes and €36 from 1 April to 31 October, and 3 hours for the rest of the year, with the car reserved for you alone for the length of the contract. A booked Santorini car service is therefore never a bargain for the six-minute hop to Kamari, but it is a fixed figure, it already contains the 13 percent VAT, and it does not depend on finding one of the island's limited taxis on a July evening. That is what makes it a dependable taxi alternative.
One booking covers every arrival point. JTR to Fira is about 7 km, JTR to Oia is the longest regular airport run at about 19 km, and ferry passengers take the cliff road from Athinios on Athinios to Fira or Athinios to Oia. Private transfers handle villas and the black-sand beaches, group transportation moves wedding parties, and companies running incentive trips can settle through corporate travel accounts.
