A short season, long nights and a lot of luggage. The same fixed pricing, shaped around four very different kinds of booking.

What is an Ibiza chauffeur service?

An Ibiza chauffeur service is a private car and driver booked in advance at a fixed price, carried out by a VTC operator authorised under Spain's national transport law (LOTT) and the Balearic Ley 1/2024, with its authorisation domiciled on Ibiza itself. In Spain a chauffeur car is a VTC: it can only move with a contract already in place, which is exactly how a RYDES booking works. RYDES arranges the trip; the licensed operator carries it out, whether that is an IBZ airport transfer, an hourly car service for a night out, or a black car to a villa lunch at Cala Jondal.

On this island the difference is mostly about the queue and who is driving. In July and August the taxi line outside arrivals can be long, and the Consell d'Eivissa has spent two seasons pushing unlicensed drivers out of the terminal. A reserved Ibiza car service sidesteps both: a named chauffeur, a booked vehicle, and a price that already contains the 10 percent IVA and any airport parking charge for your pickup. It works as a taxi alternative without competing for the same few cars at 02:00.

The same booking covers the whole island. IBZ to Playa d'en Bossa is one of the shortest runs, IBZ to Santa Eulària and IBZ to San Antonio are half an hour or more, and cross-island Ibiza Town to San Antonio hops are booked the same way. Private transfers handle the ferry terminal, and companies running offsites or brand events in season can bill through corporate travel accounts.

Arriving on Ibiza.

One airport, a private-aviation side and a ferry port. Almost everyone comes through the first; how you arrive changes where your chauffeur stands.

Drive times are door to door for a direct private car. The peak column means July and August, and especially the hours around arrivals waves and club closing times, when the airport road and the roundabouts into Ibiza Town and Playa d'en Bossa slow to a crawl. In the low season, between November and March, the off-peak figure is usually generous. Palma is listed only because people ask: a Balearic VTC may work only on the island where its authorisation is domiciled, so a Mallorca transfer is booked through Palma de Mallorca with a Mallorca operator.

Where your chauffeur is waiting.

IBZ is a single terminal, which keeps things simple until July, when 1.45 million passengers a month pass through it. The port and the private-aviation side each work differently.

Ibiza Airport, IBZ.

Ibiza Airport handled 9,138,224 passengers and 85,086 flights in 2025, up 0.7 percent on the year before. The biggest markets were the United Kingdom with about 1.87 million passengers, Italy with 0.97 million, Germany with 0.69 million and the Netherlands with 0.58 million. July 2025 alone saw 1.45 million, which is why the arrivals kerb and the taxi rank feel overwhelmed on summer evenings while the same building is quiet in February.

Aena has a reserved pick-up and drop-off zone for VTC cars at IBZ, but does not publish its exact location, and there is also an Express car park directly in front of the terminal with 36 spaces and the first 10 minutes free, opened in 2023. Your chauffeur names the point they are using in the message sent before you land, and any parking charge for that pickup is already inside the price. Drive timing into town is on IBZ to Ibiza Town.

  • The named meeting point, freeThe VTC zone or the Express car park in front of the terminal, whichever your chauffeur confirms in the pre-arrival message.
  • Meet and greet, a paid add-onYour chauffeur waits inside arrivals with your name, useful for a first visit, a group, or a late arrival with children.
  • No waiting without a bookingBalearic law bars VTCs from waiting at the airport unless they hold a contracted trip. Yours does, and carries the proof.

Private aviation.

Two fixed-base operators handle business aircraft at IBZ: ExecuJet, which runs around the clock from 1 April to 30 October, and Ibizair. Passengers on private flights are met at the FBO rather than in the public terminal, which avoids the arrivals hall entirely in high season.

Give us the tail number or the handling agent with the booking and the operator coordinates access with the FBO. The car you book is the car that waits, and a First or SUV class is the usual choice for this kind of arrival. Onward runs to villas in the hills are priced to the address on Ibiza villa transfers.

Ibiza port.

Ferries reach Ibiza port at the Estació Marítima in Ibiza Town: about 2 to 3 hours from Dénia, 5 to 7 hours from Valencia and 8 to 9 hours from Barcelona. The port is about 8 km from the airport, 18 minutes in free-flowing traffic and longer in summer. The same rule applies here as at the airport: a VTC may wait at the port only with a booking in hand.

Boats to Formentera also leave from Ibiza Town's port. A RYDES Ibiza car can take you to the terminal for the Formentera ferry and collect you when you come back, but it cannot cross with you: under the Balearic rules each VTC works only on the island where it is domiciled.

Ibiza port · 900 × 600

Airport and port facts above were checked against public sources in October 2026. Aena changes kerb layouts between seasons and does not publish the VTC zone, so treat the pre-arrival message from your chauffeur as the final word on where to walk.

Taxes, surge and the island rules.

Ibiza has no tolls and no congestion charge. What shapes the fare here is the sales tax, the pricing rules for app rides, and a set of Balearic rules that decide who may pick you up at all.

Passenger transport in Spain carries the reduced 10 percent IVA, and on a RYDES booking it is inside the euro price you see. There are no toll roads on the island, so no toll ever appears. The Balearic sustainable tourism tax is a separate matter: it is charged by your hotel or rental, up to €4 per person per night in high season at the top hotels, and it never appears in a transport fare.

The Balearic Ley 1/2024 sets the local VTC rules on top of the national ones. Every trip must be booked at least 30 minutes ahead, with the proof carried in the car; a VTC may not cruise, wait at ports, airports, stations or hotels without a booking, or use a taxi rank; and each VTC may work only on the island where its authorisation is domiciled. RYDES bookings close at least 3 hours before pickup, so the 30-minute minimum is always met. Decreto 6/2026, in force since 22 February 2026, ended the moratorium on new authorisations and capped surge pricing at 75 percent; Uber and Spain's competition authority, the CNMC, have challenged it in court.

The other number that makes summer headlines is the vehicle limit. Under the Balearic Ley 5/2024, a daily cap applies to the number of vehicles entering Ibiza between 1 June and 30 September, and non-residents bringing a car pay a small daily permit, €1 a day in 2025 with a ceiling per stay. Vehicles registered in the Balearics, taxis, public transport and rental cars handled by their companies are exempt. It matters if you are bringing your own car on the ferry. RYDES cars are already on the island, so the cap does not affect your booking. A side-by-side with the metered fare is on Ibiza taxi versus chauffeur.

One thing the table cannot show is the season. Ibiza's taxis are licensed by each municipality, many of them on seasonal licences, and Sant Josep, the municipality that includes the airport, has 106 permanent taxis. When several hundred flights land on a summer Saturday, that arithmetic produces a queue. A booked private transfer is not part of it.

How long the drives really take.

Ibiza is small, and on an empty road nothing is far. In July and August the same roads carry hire cars, coaches, scooters and club traffic, and the figures stretch accordingly.

Typical door-to-door driving times from Ibiza Airport to common destinations, for a direct private car.

IBZ to Santa Eulària33 to 40 min40 to 60 minAbout 22 km up the east side of the island

The busiest stretches are not rush hours in the city sense. They follow flights, beach clubs and parties: the early-evening arrivals wave, sunset on the west coast, and the hour after the big clubs close at dawn. For a departure flight in July or August, plan from the top of the peak column and add a margin for the security queue at IBZ.

Across the island.

Ibiza has no intercity runs, only distances that feel longer than they are on narrow roads. Every trip is one fixed fare to the exact address, so a slow road on the way to the north coast costs you time but not money.

Between the towns themselves, Ibiza Town to San Antonio and Ibiza Town to Santa Eulària are common hops, priced the same way as airport runs. Rural villa addresses often sit on unpaved tracks with no house number; send a map pin or the owner's directions with the booking and the price is fixed to that point.

What an Ibiza price includes.

One number in euros, agreed before the season gets in the way.

IVA at 10 percent
The reduced rate for passenger transport is in the fare you are quoted. There are no toll roads on Ibiza, so nothing is added for the route.
Airport pickup charges
If your chauffeur uses the Express car park or another paid spot at IBZ to collect you, that cost is ours. Parking you ask for elsewhere is not included.
Tipping is optional
The chauffeur's pay for the run was settled when they accepted it. You are offered a gratuity once, at payment, and saying no is fine.
Your flight, watched
With the flight number we follow the aircraft, and the pickup time moves with it whether you land early or late, at no charge.
An hour of waiting at IBZ
Sixty free minutes start when the aircraft actually touches down. At every other pickup, including the port, the first 15 minutes are free; after that, waiting is billed in 15-minute steps and you are told before it starts.
A meeting point, not a hunt
Pickup at the VTC zone or the Express car park your chauffeur names is the free default. Being met inside arrivals with a name sign costs extra.
Cancel free up to 24 hours
Plans on Ibiza change. Cancel or amend without charge until 24 hours before pickup; after that the full fare applies, as the car and chauffeur are held for you.
An operator authorised on Ibiza
Each trip is run by a licensed chauffeur operator holding a VTC authorisation domiciled on the island, and recorded in the Ministry of Transport's electronic register before it starts.
Child seats, pets, service animals
Child seats are a paid add-on, supplied and then fitted by the parent. Pets travel as a paid add-on; service animals ride free.
Outside the price
The tourist tax your hotel or villa charges, and parking you ask the car to wait in. Nothing else is added later.

When you should not book us.

Ibiza's airport buses are better than their reputation, and for one kind of traveller they are the obvious choice.

In 2026 ALSA relaunched the island network and renamed the airport lines Aero. Aero3 is the express between the airport and Ibiza Town, with 67 trips a day; Aero5 runs from Figueretes through Playa d'en Bossa to the airport from 15 May; Aero1 links San Antonio and Sant Josep with the airport, 76 trips a day from May 2026; Aero2 and Aero4 run 74 and 35 trips a day. Travelling alone with a small bag to Ibiza Town or Playa d'en Bossa, the bus is the cheap option and we would take it too. The fares were not published when this page was checked, so confirm them at the stop.

A chauffeur makes sense when the bus does not: several people sharing one fare, suitcases, children, a rural villa no bus line reaches, a flight landing after the buses stop, or a night that moves between clubs. It also removes two specific Ibiza problems, the summer taxi queue and the unlicensed driver offering a ride at the door. The numbers are laid out on Ibiza taxi versus chauffeur.

Is Uber or a VTC legal on Ibiza?

Yes, within the rules. In Spain a chauffeur car is a VTC, authorised under the national LOTT, and on Ibiza it must also follow the Balearic Ley 1/2024: every trip contracted at least 30 minutes ahead with proof in the car, no cruising, no waiting at the airport or port without a booking, and work only on the island where the authorisation is domiciled. A RYDES booking is made at least 3 hours ahead and carried out by an operator authorised on Ibiza. See Ibiza car service.

Where does my chauffeur meet me at Ibiza Airport?

At the meeting point named in the message sent before you land: Aena's reserved VTC pick-up zone or the Express car park in front of the terminal, which has 36 spaces and the first 10 minutes free. Aena does not publish the VTC zone's location, so the chauffeur confirms it. Meet and greet inside arrivals is a paid add-on. Details on IBZ airport transfers.

How long is the taxi queue at Ibiza Airport?

It depends on the hour, and in July and August it can be long. Taxis are licensed by each municipality, many on seasonal licences, and Sant Josep, which includes the airport, has 106 permanent taxis for an airport that handled 1.45 million passengers in July 2025 alone. A pre-booked car with a named chauffeur does not join that queue.

What about the unlicensed taxis at the airport?

The Consell d'Eivissa reported in November 2025 that pirate-taxi presence at the airport had fallen 95 percent on 2024. In 2025, up to October, 161 vehicles were immobilised, 619 case files opened and €601,031 in fines imposed, with inspectors present 14 hours a day alongside the Guardia Civil. The simplest protection is to know your driver's name and plate before you land, which a RYDES booking gives you.

How long does IBZ to Ibiza Town take?

About 20 to 30 minutes outside the summer and 30 to 50 minutes in July and August, for roughly 10 km to Marina Botafoch. Playa d'en Bossa is closer, 13 to 20 minutes off-season. See IBZ to Ibiza Town and IBZ to Playa d'en Bossa.

Can I hire a car and driver for a night out?

Yes, and it is the booking that suits Ibiza nights best. Hourly hire has a two-hour minimum in 30-minute steps; the chauffeur takes you from dinner to the first club, waits outside, then moves the group on and brings everyone home. You avoid looking for a ride at closing time. See hourly chauffeur hire and club transfers.

When are the busiest weeks on Ibiza?

Opening parties run from late April into May (in 2026: Pacha 24 April, Hï 25 April, Ushuaïa 26 April, DC10 27 April, Amnesia 9 May). July and August are the peak. Closing parties fall in early to mid October (in 2026: Amnesia 9 October, Ushuaïa and Pacha 10 October, O Beach 11 October). Book these dates as early as you can; reservations open up to a year ahead.

Are tax and airport charges included in the price?

Yes. The 10 percent IVA and any parking charge at IBZ for your pickup are inside the quoted euro price, and Ibiza has no toll roads. Not included: the Balearic sustainable tourism tax, which your hotel or rental charges (up to €4 per person per night in high season at top hotels), and parking you ask the car to wait in. See Ibiza taxi versus chauffeur.

Does the vehicle cap on Ibiza affect my booking?

No. Under Ley 5/2024 a daily cap limits the vehicles entering Ibiza from 1 June to 30 September, and non-residents bringing a car pay a small daily permit (€1 a day in 2025, with a limit per stay). Balearic-registered vehicles, taxis, public transport and company-handled rental cars are exempt. It affects people bringing their own car on a ferry; RYDES cars are already based on the island.

Can my Ibiza chauffeur take me to Formentera?

Only as far as the ferry. Boats to Formentera leave from Ibiza Town's port, and we can drop you at the terminal and collect you when you return. A Balearic VTC may work only on the island where it is domiciled, so the car does not cross. See Formentera ferry transfers.

I am arriving by ferry. Can you meet me at the port?

Yes. Your chauffeur meets you at the Estació Marítima in Ibiza Town, with the booking proof the Balearic rules require for waiting at a port. Crossings take about 2 to 3 hours from Dénia, 5 to 7 hours from Valencia and 8 to 9 hours from Barcelona; give the sailing with the booking. See Ibiza port transfers.

Should I just take the bus from IBZ?

If you are alone with a small bag going to Ibiza Town or Playa d'en Bossa, yes. The 2026 ALSA network runs the Aero3 express to Ibiza Town 67 times a day, and Aero5 serves Figueretes and Playa d'en Bossa from 15 May; Aero1 to San Antonio runs 76 times a day. Fares were not published when this was checked. With luggage, a group, children or a villa address, a chauffeur is the easier answer.

Can you drive to a villa with no street address?

Yes. Many Ibiza villas sit on unnamed tracks around Sant Joan, Sant Josep and the north. Send a map pin or the owner's directions when you book; the price is fixed to that point and the chauffeur has the directions in advance. The longest common run, IBZ to Portinatx, is about 35 km. See villa transfers.

How much waiting time is included?

At IBZ, sixty minutes free from the aircraft's actual landing, which covers baggage reclaim on a busy day. At the port and every other pickup, fifteen minutes free. After that, waiting is charged in 15-minute increments at the class rate, and you are told before any charge starts.

How far ahead should I book in Ibiza?

At least 3 hours before pickup, which also satisfies the Balearic rule that every VTC trip is booked at least 30 minutes ahead. For opening and closing weekends, July and August, and wedding dates, book weeks or months ahead; reservations open a year out. Weddings are on wedding transportation.

Can I book an Ibiza transfer from Mallorca or the mainland?

You can book from anywhere, but the car that drives you on Ibiza is always an Ibiza-domiciled one. For Mallorca, book through Palma de Mallorca; for a ferry from Barcelona, a pickup on the Barcelona side is a separate booking on Barcelona.
